When a lubrication pump is required, an Albany Gear Pump is often the correct choice.  Albany Gear pumps have very long lives in lubrication applications, generally in gas turbines, compressors or large diesel engines.  Various drive arrangements are possible.  Pumps are often directly driven, though electric drives are used for back up pumps.

The Fire Industry is a key market for Albany.  A wide range of sizes of gear pump are available for pumping fire fighting foam, which is injected into the main water supply.  Many drive and mounting options are available.

Water driven pumps are supplied where safety is most critical.   A small proportion of the main water flow is used to power a pelton wheel, which powers the foam injection pump.  Foam concentrate pressure is typically 8 to 19 bar, with the water supply pressure normally being between 7 and 18 bar.

Albany has VdS approval on both bareshaft and pelton wheel driven models AP7, AP9 and HD5.  This gives a range with up to 500 Litres per minute available.
