Boycott of Beauty and the Beast might seem like a joke, but the bigotry underlying it is real http://flip.it/B6Anq-

The writer and essayist John Ralston Saul (co-founder of the charity for which I work) calls Canada a “revolutionary reversal of the standard nation-state myth”, and ascribes much of our radical capacity – not a term you often hear applied to Canadians – to our application of the Indigenous concept of welcome. “Space for multiple identities and multiple loyalties,” he says of these philosophies, the roots of which go deep in North American soil, “for an idea of belonging which is comfortable with contradictions.”

We need to see more grass roots manufacturing reusing common materials.

We thought we had the Nazi fascists, totalitarian communists, and the KKK crushed at the end of the twentieth century. There is an inner Fascist, bigot, dictator in all of us waiting to come out. Religious or not (I'm not), we would do well to constantly meditate on the way we let these ugly demons loose. We defined my parents' generation as the GI Generation because of their belated struggle with fascism. There will be other generations that must rise to the challenge. This may be one of the Baby Boomer's greatest failed legacies.
