Really +NIA Ops, what we're you expecting??? It's far too late for a recruitment badge now, as everyone who cares about this game will have already invited everyone they know. Thanks for encouraging multi-accounting.

Idiots...

Good job guys! Another hollow feature. This will enhange gameplay a bunch for sure! #ingress

Just spent the past 5 days in Barcelona to take part in the #Darsana anomaly event in Ingress.  While the result wasn't what I'd hoped for, the whole trip was an incredible experience, and finances permitting, one I'd certainly love to do again.

I wasn't in the habit of taking that many photos (sorry, I was using my phone to play Ingress most of the time :-) ), but I think this auto-awesome'd story does a pretty good effort of summarising things.

Thought I might as well try out the #Halloweenify feature on my profile photo.

For anyone who, like me, is actually into the story of Ingress, another two books have just come out.  They take a slightly different approach from the previous books in that it's not a narrated story, but still provide a fair bit of detail

From extensive research collected and catalogued by +H. Richard Loeb and +Verity Seke, get Ingress: +Niantic Project Files, Volumes 1 & 2 on Google Play and Amazon, out now:

Google Play:

Amazon:

Throughout the day, we'll post questions related to the #NianticProjectFiles in the comments on this post. For example: After being declared MIA, on what date was +Hank Johnson recovered near the Hindu Kush Mountains? (Hint: Vol. 1 Pg. 132.) Leave your answer in the comments below. Good luck.

I know I'm a bit late getting to 10,000,000AP in #Ingress, so I thought a better way of doing it would be to get exactly 10,000,000. Of course, by this time several people will already have done this, so I had to go one better 😉

10,000,001AP, while level 10.

(I actually got this on the 9th May. I should have waited until after midnight...)

Okay, it's not the best photo in the world, but this is Edinburgh winning the 1872 cup yesterday at Murrayfield for the first time in ages after defeating the weegies :-)

Two years today since I started playing Ingress, and in that time I've been to quite a few places (even different continents) and met a lot of new people as a result.

To this day, I've still not found a way to explain to my parents what I'm doing without them rolling their eyes and ignoring me before dismissing everything as overly geeky :-)

After finally getting an #ingressinvite yesterday, I went out today with #ingress installed on my phone to see what I could do.  There aren't many players or portals around here so I was somewhat limited in my actions, but I kept going until my phone battery was about to die (curse you #Nexus4 with your non-replaceable battery!).  Also, since I'm only level 1 attacking a level 5 enemy portal didn't really do much good, so I stuck to recharging existing Enlightened ones and claiming two unclaimed ones.

The first unclaimed portal eventually got fully charged with all 8 resonators.  Obviously since it's only level 1 it's an easy target for any passing resistance scum, but given there aren't that many players in Edinburgh I'm hoping it'll last.  I'm not sure how effective a portal shield is, but I've added one of those too!  The second unclaimed portal only has one resonator, but it's a bit out of the way so should be safe.  Given that it gets dark early just now and the area is extremely hazardous in the dark, I don't imagine it'll get much attention.

Final achievement (for me anyway!) was taking out a resonator in an enemy portal.  Again, it was only level 1 and chances are it'll get replaced pretty soon, but not bad for a couple of hours playing.

I also made an effort to submit a couple of new portals, and will continue to do so as I make my way around the city.  Let's hope they appear in-game soon!

This only leaves me with a couple of queries:

- is there a way to report erroneous or duplicate portals?  I know I said portals are somewhat lacking in this area, but as an example, the Scott Monument on Princes Street, Edinburgh has more than 10 portals, all at different locations and with different wordings.  Some are slight variations ("Scott Monument", "Scott's Monument" - this one is horribly wrong!), some are in foreign languages ("Monumento a Byron Scott") and some are just obviously there with no effort ("May 2008").  Since I'm playing a game in beta, I'm assuming one of the things I'm meant to do is report things such as this?

- are there any other Enlightened players in Edinburgh reading this who want to coordinate efforts? :-)  Those level 5 resistance portals will come down eventually!

How convenient.  Before the referendum there were all the scare stories along the lines of Scotland not being able to count on oil fields as a source of revenue if we went independent, and now a month after the scare-tactics, look what's suddenly appeared overnight...
Oil firms BP and GDF Suez announce they have discovered a new field in the UK Central North Sea.

While this obviously isn't meant to be a serious debate on the referendum (and my avatar makes my opinion clear anyway), it's still quite funny.
