As the photo-sphere didn't work in the story recently posted, here it is on its own.

I quite like the auto-awesome'd story Google have created from my recent trip to Paris, so I'll share it here instead of the boring old album link.

Really +NIA Ops, what we're you expecting??? It's far too late for a recruitment badge now, as everyone who cares about this game will have already invited everyone they know. Thanks for encouraging multi-accounting.

Idiots...

Good job guys! Another hollow feature. This will enhange gameplay a bunch for sure! #ingress

Two years today since I started playing Ingress, and in that time I've been to quite a few places (even different continents) and met a lot of new people as a result.

To this day, I've still not found a way to explain to my parents what I'm doing without them rolling their eyes and ignoring me before dismissing everything as overly geeky :-)

After finally getting an #ingressinvite yesterday, I went out today with #ingress installed on my phone to see what I could do.  There aren't many players or portals around here so I was somewhat limited in my actions, but I kept going until my phone battery was about to die (curse you #Nexus4 with your non-replaceable battery!).  Also, since I'm only level 1 attacking a level 5 enemy portal didn't really do much good, so I stuck to recharging existing Enlightened ones and claiming two unclaimed ones.

The first unclaimed portal eventually got fully charged with all 8 resonators.  Obviously since it's only level 1 it's an easy target for any passing resistance scum, but given there aren't that many players in Edinburgh I'm hoping it'll last.  I'm not sure how effective a portal shield is, but I've added one of those too!  The second unclaimed portal only has one resonator, but it's a bit out of the way so should be safe.  Given that it gets dark early just now and the area is extremely hazardous in the dark, I don't imagine it'll get much attention.

Final achievement (for me anyway!) was taking out a resonator in an enemy portal.  Again, it was only level 1 and chances are it'll get replaced pretty soon, but not bad for a couple of hours playing.

I also made an effort to submit a couple of new portals, and will continue to do so as I make my way around the city.  Let's hope they appear in-game soon!

This only leaves me with a couple of queries:

- is there a way to report erroneous or duplicate portals?  I know I said portals are somewhat lacking in this area, but as an example, the Scott Monument on Princes Street, Edinburgh has more than 10 portals, all at different locations and with different wordings.  Some are slight variations ("Scott Monument", "Scott's Monument" - this one is horribly wrong!), some are in foreign languages ("Monumento a Byron Scott") and some are just obviously there with no effort ("May 2008").  Since I'm playing a game in beta, I'm assuming one of the things I'm meant to do is report things such as this?

- are there any other Enlightened players in Edinburgh reading this who want to coordinate efforts? :-)  Those level 5 resistance portals will come down eventually!

Another year since the first day I started playing Ingress, and the very first portal I captured in the screenshot below doesn't even exist now.  For all the faults and aspects that everyone, including myself, complain about, it's always been fun.  Especially during the Edinburgh anomaly!

Three years in, and I still don't know what I'm doing :-)

Don't worry Chris, we all make mistakes ;-)  Your local team should be able to help if you're unsure what to do though.

Just taken receipt of some extra geeky goodies from +Sophos today - and yes, I will be wearing these to work :-)  Cost me a whole $2 thanks to a free $50 voucher too!
Okay, maybe a bit more in the end due to customs charges (which I was expecting) and +Royal Mail 's extortionate 'handling fee' (which I wasn't expecting to be so high!), but I consider the geekiness to be worth it :-)

Hi Alan,
I'm posting here cause I haven't figured how to send you a msg.
My wife & I are coming over for the Anomaly in Nov & Bob suggested I get in touch ahead of time.
Just a couple of questions if you don't mind.
Cheers, Dan.

As everyone else is doing it, let me join the bandwagon!  Yes, I know... "Brace yourself, Android Wear users are coming", etc...

Being able to scroll up and down between two portals nearby is a nice feature, although I notice the wrist gestures aren't supported.  I suppose if you don't have a spare hand to scroll then you don't have a spare hand to hack anyway!

Looking forward to seeing how this improves over time!
