About the myth.
Lee Kuan Yew, who died Monday at 91, was in his final years more than a man: He was a myth, a global idea—an intellectual cult built around the idea that not all autocrats are bad; they can be enlightened philosopher-kings too, leading their countries to prosperity and power without the hassle of liberal democracy. Today, with little sense of...

The interior of the place is much nicer than typical Padang Restaurant, but I would rate the dishes or courses taste no more than 'OK' if compared to the the 'Very Good' standard of Rumah Makan Sederhana. Also, after my second time having my meal in the restaurant, I wonder why the cooked rice here always feel a bit hard or underdone to eat.

Considering the very nice Sundanese food this restaurant serves, I would like to see a lot of improvement on the cleanliness of the floor, chairs and tables especially in the non-airconditioned area. It wasn't very crowded on Sunday evening on my visit, however the waiter and waitress seemed to lack of speediness cleaning up the leftovers.

A real authentic padangnese food. The place looks much humbler than typical Sederhana or Simpang Raya restaurants in Jakarta, but when looking for meals sometimes I only care about the taste. I don't have any one single favorite dish here as by far I like every food I have tried inside.

Definitely my most favorite hotel in Jakarta. I know many newer premium five-star hotels which feel and appear more luxurious or sophisticated around, but Hotel Mulia gives the best overall sense of satisfaction of staying in an upper class hotel in Jakarta. If Waldorf Astoria decided to have one property in Jakarta, they should probably acquire Hotel Mulia.
