This is something I wish I had had when I was a kid: better than even a chemistry set, it's the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab. Yes, it's a genuine nuclear physics set for kids, with things like a Geiger counter, a cloud chamber, an electroscope, and a bunch of isotopes.

No, I'm not kidding; this looks like a great science set for kids, and it's no more dangerous than quite a lot of household goods. And there is something deeply and profoundly magical about learning this kind of physics. In a cloud chamber, you can actually see radioactive decays with your naked eye. And there are a bunch of experiments you can do where you're doing honest-to-god transmutation of the elements; I remember doing this with my undergrads many years ago, and enjoying the looks on their faces when they walked in to the lab and I told them that today we were going to make Silicon.

I'm really sad that they don't have things like this anymore. Kids' home science sets have been getting fairly weak lately -- if you look into the latest Edmunds Scientific catalogue, it looks more like a collection of science-themed toys than anything else. Actual chemistry, physics, or even electronics sets seem virtually impossible to get.

Maybe it's time to change this; do we need to start making real science sets designed for kids?
Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab (1950-1951). This was the most elaborate Atomic Energy educational set ever produced, but it was only only available from 1951 to 1952. Its relatively high price for the time ($50.00) and its sophistication were the explanation Gilbert gave for the set's short ...

Lead by example. Be the change and when people see happiness glitter coming out of your ears, nose, month, and eyeballs they are going to want some of that sparkle!

Very deceptive pricing and checkout clerk was very defensive around the CVS pricing practices during our checkout experience. I purchased a bottle of wine that was "on sale". At checkout, seeing the wrong price ring up, it ends up you need to purchase 6 bottles of wine to qualify for the "on sale" price - what??? I won't be back nor will any of my friends and family. Walgreens is right across the street.

Very well done waiting experience. Well organized. An employee greeted us, asked for more information on what we needed so they could most efficiently serve us, and kept the process moving along smoothly.
