Nice shot - send some of that rain our way.  By the way, did you wear a new plaid shirt for the first day of school?

I'm not especially happy about it, but it is certainly intriguing that our immediately next door neighbor has purchased and placed a single TEU on his driveway next to our house!

Via +David Levinson, this seems like a project to keep an eye on if you are a transport/logistics researcher...

Had a nice time Wednesday evening this week at our annual Spring end-of-semester party for my students and Kim's students.

Here's a shot of 5/6 of the group:  Brian, Mathias, Ilke, Satya, and Alborz. We missed you, Yanling!

Gary May, dean of the +Georgia Tech College of Engineering, shared the link below on his personal facebook page.  Thought I would re-share it here!
America does not need more business graduates doing investment banking and stock trading. America does not need more lawyers and lobbyists. America needs more doctors, engineers, scientists and teachers....

Brindley Beach may have some nice properties, and the house we rented is certainly in an A+ location on an ocean-view cul-de-sac in Duck: Caffey's Inlet, house name "Ocean View". The problem is that the exterior of the home is in complete disrepair, and the many decks with their wonderful views are simply not useable. The problem is BUGS and SPIDERS. More SPIDERS than you can ever imagine, infesting the decks just everywhere. We've looked at other houses in the neighborhood; it is not a neighborhood problem. It is a problem with the maintenance, probably the homeowner is to blame. But Brindley Beach should not rent the house in its current condition. If you think about renting "Ocean View" in Duck, NC from Brindley Beach, ask about the exterior condition and make sure that it has been powerwashed and painted. Otherwise, tell them that a Yelp review made you decide against it. It is UNACCEPTABLE in its current condition.

One of the best places for lunch in Clearer. Grouper sandwiches are the way to go. I never miss it when I'm here.

A good hotel in a reasonable location. Like most DC hotels, it is expensive for what you get. But, there are not a lot of better alternatives.

A top place to go, whether you live in Atlanta or are just visiting. Many festivals and special events, and plenty of well-maintained green spaces just for hanging out.

It's been my favorite breakfast place for years. Everything on the breakfast menu is solid, coffee is good. Get there early (before 9) on Saturday and Sunday, or be prepared to wait. Also has delicious take-away pastries, cupcakes, and the like.
