Gary May, dean of the +Georgia Tech College of Engineering, shared the link below on his personal facebook page.  Thought I would re-share it here!
America does not need more business graduates doing investment banking and stock trading. America does not need more lawyers and lobbyists. America needs more doctors, engineers, scientists and teachers....

If you're thinking about getting me a gift this holiday season, you might want to consider this Lego model of the Triple-E Maersk McKinney Moller!

Thanksgiving weekend seems like the perfect time to complete your application for the Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or the Ph.D. in Operations Research here in ISyE at Georgia Tech.

Remember, this year the application deadline for Fall 2015 starts is Dec 15!

The tragedy of Alan Turing’s life and death makes for a dramatic cinematic narrative—but at the expense of examining some of his most important achievements. #movies

Saw Stuart and his little band from Scotland last night at Atlanta's amazing Tabernacle venue... made sure to stand up front to avoid being spotted by students!

The #ISyE Ph.D. students gave Pam Morrison a warm farewell at a special retirement version of their weekly tea/coffee hour today.

Pam has provided outstanding student services for nearly 20 years in the academic office, and over 400 Ph.D. students have turned in their thesis defense forms to her on that happiest of days.

Enjoy a well-deserved restful retirement, Pam!!

On campus today at +UC Berkeley to present some work on dynamic vehicle dispatch for same-day delivery in the Friday Seminar series of the Institute for Transportation Studies.  15 years ago I was the student organizer of the same series, and it seems like yesterday...

Here's a shot from a short campus walk this morning, in the redwood grove by Strawberry Creek near the faculty clubs... it's hard not to miss this place!

Just back from short trip to Savannah, the coastal historic Georgia city home to the fastest growing container port in the US.

Great views from the breakfast room if you love #logistics!!

Interested in potentially hiring a top ISyE Ph.D. student into a faculty position?

This year, we have compiled a "Directory of Graduating Ph.D. Students" which includes the CVs of 12 ISyE Ph.D. students who are currently on the job market seeking positions in academia.

Send me a message or an email to alan.erera@isye.gatech.edu if you are interested in getting a copy of the directory!

+Alan Erera this is great!

We have open positions. Do you have an equivalent list for Ph.D. graduates seeking industry positions?

If you are a bright student finishing your Ph.D. and reading this, please go to http://www.sas.com/jobs/USjobs/search.html and search for Operations Research in the keywords.

And see you in San Francisco!

A top place to go, whether you live in Atlanta or are just visiting. Many festivals and special events, and plenty of well-maintained green spaces just for hanging out.

It's been my favorite breakfast place for years. Everything on the breakfast menu is solid, coffee is good. Get there early (before 9) on Saturday and Sunday, or be prepared to wait. Also has delicious take-away pastries, cupcakes, and the like.

One of the best places for lunch in Clearer. Grouper sandwiches are the way to go. I never miss it when I'm here.

A good hotel in a reasonable location. Like most DC hotels, it is expensive for what you get. But, there are not a lot of better alternatives.
