I have a small privately held growing chemical company in the Columbus area searching for an Automation & Process Control Engineer. This is a great opportunity for someone. The plant is only partially automated. They are looking for someone who can develop an automation plan going forward and then implement it. A chance to impact the organization in a big way and see your results. Role Title:    Automation & Process Controls System Engineer   
Direct & Indirect Reports:    Direct:  Process Controls Technician
Manager:    Engineering Manager
Manager Once Removed:    Director of Manufacturing
Senior Purpose:    Directly responsible for the standards, design, planning, management, and execution of all activities related to instrument, controls, and automation solutions for production and facility equipment.  
Key Result Areas (KRA’s):
Direct Management of  the Process Controls Engineering Technician
Overall responsibility for training and technical supervision of the Process Controls Engineering Technician including but not limited to process PLC installation  & programming, maintenance, support, upgrades to existing control systems, and PSM efforts.   
Accountability
Provide leadership and direction to the Process Controls Engineering Technician to assure safe and proper procedures are being followed, preventative maintenance efforts are complete and effective, and all records are adequate and up to date.  Review, approve, and edit timecards on a bi-weekly basis.
CRC Engineering Support
Provide 24/7 engineering support to the production facility, engineering group, R&D department, accounting, business management team, and to the maintenance department.  Research new technologies and procedures relative to automation and controls that could be utilized to improve processes. Analyze, compare and select equipment best suited for various applications. Coordinate with Operations to identify requirements for process controls, develop control strategies and implement.  Support the design, specification, installation, startup and validation of process control systems, electrical systems and instrumentation for capital and upgrade projects.  Ensure site specifications, standards and compliance to expectations are met and that good engineering practices are followed.   This position has direct responsibility for the operations and development of the electrical systems and the process control systems.  
Accountability
Maintain the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the community in which we operate and protection of the environment.  CRC growth is reliant on engineering expertise.  System design and safety integrated systems for new or existing processes are a necessary element to accommodate growth.  Provides support in the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (E, I, &C) areas for all members on the engineering team as required by each project. 
Engineering Support for Maintenance
Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance to maintenance to perform repairs, design changes, or other corrections as a result of troubleshooting or performance evaluation.  Troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems to resolve equipment or process issues.  Responsible for oversight of control system critical spare parts Identify continuous improvement activities relative to plant automation control systems in support areas and champion solutions aligned with Site and Department metrics, Business Objectives and Strategy. Identify areas of opportunity to improve equipment and component reliability.  Develop calibration, preventative maintenance and additional procedures in support of systems and instruments installed.
 
Accountability
System design or alterations are necessary for change and growth.  Provide support to all on the maintenance team as required by task in the areas of E, I, &C.  Participate in the development and continued improvements to the preventative maintenance program.
Process Safety Management Support
Implementation and / or maintenance of required PSM documentation as required for safe operating systems.
Accountability
PSM compliance is required for the majority of work associated with CRC, and will be sustained through group efforts with direction and support from the PSM Manager, EHS&S Manager, Engineering Manager, and the Engineering team.   
Electrical Safety
Support and continued improvements to the “Electrical Safe Work Practices” at CRC.
 
Qualifications/Requirements/Experience:
Minimum
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience in all areas of process control systems & automation encompassing instrumentation, automated control, and electrical distribution in chemical, petrochemicals or similar manufacturing operations, preferably in a 24/7 operation
-    Demonstrated knowledge of ISA standards for specification of instruments, control systems design, and safety instrumented systems.
Must have control system automation and field instrument experience and be familiar with the various hardware/ software products and services employed for process control system projects
-    Design experience with programmable logic control (PLC/HMI) systems
Project management and supervisory experience
Experience in programming/troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Experience with Allen-Bradley,  AutoCad and/or AutoCad LT is preferred.
Experience with 480V / 120V.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator
Preferred
Advanced degree and/or PE
Six Sigma Certification
-    Designed systems under Process Safety Management (PSM)
