Enjoy your day!
Earlier today at Google I/O, announced #AutoEnhance and #AutoAwesome - two new features to help make sharing your photos more fun and more creative. To help you become more familiar with these tools, here’s a brief Q&A along with some sample images to enjoy.
Can you give me some more details on how Google+ will enhance my photos?
Sure! Auto Enhance analyzes your photos as you upload them, then optimizes brightness, contrast, details, noise, focus, and many other factors in order to help them really shine. Just click on the Enhanced hover button on newly uploaded photos to see the results. You can also manually turn on Auto Enhance on older images by clicking on ‘More’ and select ‘Auto Enhance’.
Will the Auto Enhanced version overwrite my original photos?
No. We will never overwrite your original photo and Auto Enhance can be removed and reapplied at any time.
Will Google retroactively apply Auto Enhance to all of the photos that I’ve already uploaded?
Auto Enhance will only be applied to new images that you upload (via Auto Backup or to your Albums) and every image you add will always be private until you’re ready to share it. We will never apply Auto Enhance to images that you’ve already shared.
That’s great! So what’s Auto Awesome?
Whereas Auto Enhance helps make your uploaded images shine bright, Auto Awesome will look at your photos and create fun, new images to share your favorite moments. When we find the right arrangement of images, we’ll generate new Auto Awesome images and place them alongside your original photos. Just like Auto Enhance photos, they’ll remain private until you choose to share them, and we’ll never replace your images.
What sort of photos can I expect to see with Auto Awesome?
With Auto Awesome, we’ll create animated images with our Motion photos, ultra wide sweeping scenes with Pano, and even help you show all of the details in your image with HDR. On top of that, if you’re at a party or with a group of friends, we’ll make it easy for you to create photobooth style collages with Mix and put together great looking group shots with Smile photos.
Sleek Design. The 100% viewfinder gets out of your way while capturing the maximum resolution of the scene (no dropped pixels). And the extra large capture button is easy to press so your eyes never lose sight of the subject.
Lens Blur. Emphasize the subject while blurring the background for an SLR-like shot with shallow depth-of-field (or bokeh). You can even change the subject in focus after taking the shot.
Improved Panorama. New higher resolution panoramas capture the full width and detail of a scene.
Photo Sphere. Immersive 360 degree photo spheres let you look up, down and all around...now at up to 50 megapixels! For the first time available on non-Nexus devices.
Google Camera is now available on the Play store (http://goo.gl/llsZjx), and works on all phones and tablets running Android 4.4+ KitKat. We’re just getting started, and in the months ahead we'll make Google Camera available to more devices, helping make photography easier, faster and more fun.
