Mission: Become global leaders in preserving, improving and promoting the Arabian horse breed and maintaining accessibility to the community while setting the highest standard in breeding, show, equestrian arts and equine welfare.
This page is exclusively for the Al Shaqab Breeding & Show department of Al Shaqab: Preserving, Promoting and Perpetuating the Pure-Bred Arabian Horse.

The Breeding and Show Department serves as Al Shaqab’s cornerstone. In just 20 short years of its existence, it has been a pivotal farm in the preservation and refinement of the Arabian breed.

His Highness, The Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al
Thani founded Al Shaqab in 1992 to preserve and further develop the Arabian horse in Qatar. Al Shaqab is led by H E Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Al Shaqab Breeding and Show Department is headed by Manager, Mohammed Al Sulaiti and advisors Abdullah Al Kuwairi and Ali Abdulla Al Misnad.

The phenomenal rise of Al Shaqab’s three World Champion Stallions - Al Adeed Al Shaqab, Gazal Al Shaqab and Marwan Al Shaqab - has brought new chapters to Arabian breeding and show ring success. These stallions have helped preserve the breed type and bring new excitement to the sport. Their achievements define Qatar’s heritage of Arabian excellence and have created a legacy for the breed.

Although these three stallions fulfill different roles, they team to provide the future for Al Shaqab. Al Adeed Al Shaqab is acclaimed as the world’s leading straight Egyptian sire; Gazal Al Shaqab’s is renowned as the sire of Marwan Al Shaqab and multiple world champion offspring; and Marwan Al Shaqab is legendary as the only three-time World Champion and continues to be annually one of the leading sires of champions in the breed. Marwan Al Shaqab was recently named as the Leading Sire for the 4th year in a row at the 2010 World Arabian Horse Show Championships in Paris, France. Also at the show, Al Shaqab was recognized as having the second-highest amount of World Champion title winning horses in the past 30 years.
