A lot of people got shots of the moon the other night when it was the closest to earth. I got this shot with my Nikon D300 and my 70 - 200mm 2.8 lens. It is cropped but I think it turned out pretty good.

Joe has been around for a long time and has been helping photographers and models a great deal. I think he has some really great points here, although I disagree with posting f-stops, shutter speeds, etc. as people don't seem to understand that post processing blows all that out of the water. You can say stuff like I dragged the shutter or I deliberately over exposed the shot or it was made up as an HDR from three exposures, but why would you care that they shot at f-8 for 1/160 at 400 ISO. Thoughts?

Science and space have always fascinated me. With modern technology and spacecraft we no longer have to look only at artist renditions of our solar system, we can see how things actually look.

Valles Marineris: The Grand Canyon of Mars
Image Credit: Viking Project, USGS, NASA
Explanation: Mars will look good in Earth's skies over the next few days -- but not this good. To get a view this amazing, a spacecraft had to actually visit the red planet. Running across the image center, though, is one the largest canyons in the Solar System. Named Valles Marineris, the grand valley extends over 3,000 kilometers long, spans as much as 600 kilometers across, and delves as much as 8 kilometers deep. By comparison, the Earth's Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA is 800 kilometers long, 30 kilometers across, and 1.8 kilometers deep. The origin of the Valles Marineris remains unknown, although a leading hypothesis holds that it started as a crack billions of years ago as the planet cooled. Several geologic processes have been identified in the canyon. The featured mosaic was created from over 100 images of Mars taken by Viking Orbiters in the 1970s. Tomorrow, Mars and Earth will pass the closest in 11 years, resulting in the red planet being quite noticeable toward the southeast after sunset.

This book is intended for business people to make better presentations but it applies to so much more than that. As a photographer our job is not to blend in and be like everyone else. As an artist we need to "clash with our environment" and stand out from the mediocrity. Oh... and watch the video on page nine... the more spiritual of you may recognize some sacred geometry in those designs - ya, mind blowing I know!

My 13 year old son, Tony, has created another Lego set and he needs 10,000 supporters for it to be considered. They turned down his X-Files set because it wasn't child-friendly. This new set he created is based on a video game called SubNautica. Please give your support.
The Project This LEGO project is based on the video game Subnautica. It contains a small underwater base with a minifigure, a Sea Moth, a fish called a Rabbit Ray and the Reap...

Funny how the article doesn't mention animal factory farming being the lead cause of deforestation and the lead cause of environmental damage, all modes of transport do not come close to beef production alone.
