I haven't posted here ina long, long time but here is an image from India. This is the Athirapilly waterfalls in southern India. Even though this was the dry season, there was enough water to form 3 massive cascades, captured against the early morning light. #landscapephotography#plusphotoextract
I haven't been posting much here lately but here's one from a trip to Scotland. This is quite another treacherous location - it may seem calm in the picture but there were gale force winds as I tried to shoot this panorama. The weather is ephemeral out here - rainy one minute, a lick of sun the next. The one thing that is a constant is the winds making true long exposure work almost impossible most of the time. I had a lot of trouble with pictures from this location - most were shaky or the contrast level from the sun behind was far too strong to make a usable photograph. The rays of light behind the Storr were a great feature to catch at this moment
I finally had a (teeny bit) of time to go through some of my Africa trip photographs. Here's one from my mountain hike in Rwanda where our group "visited" the Ntambara gorilla family. These gorillas have been habituated and made comfortable to the presence of humans and we literally walked into their habitat on foot, hung out with the gorilla family for about an hour before we left. One male silverback even walked past me twice, brishing past me gently- enough to make a point but never really threatening us in any way. This guy below though is just a curious male watching me from the distance.
Here are my three entries to Plus One Collection 3. Unfortunately, since I am not in the country at present, my initial submissions are lower-res files sourced from my flickr page. I can upload the higher resolution files when I get back. #PlusOneCollectionIII+Ivan Makarov+Plus One Collection
Here's one more from Africa... a cheetah that had just started eating it's fresh kill. This guy was swamped by around 20 vehicles all around the tree he had dragged his kill under. He must have gotten a bit nervous perhaps because he started gnawing at his kill quite frantically and at one moment, even vomitted briefly because of his pace of eating.
Another pic from Norway that I was not too excited about initially since the light had just disappeared behind the thick clouds; but now I see it as a very gentle and calm scene. And the picture frame adds SO MUCH. The snowfall came down quite heavily and it was of the wet kind. This limited how long I could shoot since it was beginning to wet my filters and the camera body.
