Cutting the lawn can affect your air conditioner!
It’s happened to a lot of us. Somehow you have managed to set aside some time to get the yard work done. So you bring out the powerful Eater of Weeds, and the powerful sound of its feasting is like music to your ears. That is, until you approach the Air Conditioner. Suddenly a brown wire is tangled up, and the system has suddenly shut off. As the sun sets, you cannot help but feel the sharp sting of defeat.

As I said, its happened to a lot of us. This brown wire is called the control wire. It connects the inside air handler, outside condenser and thermostat. The important thing to remember is that its low voltage. At only 24 volts, it’s very unlikely to hurt you physically. It can, however, be quite painful monetarily.

Best case scenario is that it blows a fuse inside the air handler. Worst case is blown transformers, relays, circuit boards and thermostats. If you ever find yourself in this situation give AirOne a call we do provide emergency work at no additional cost to you.

Springing forward means dark mornings and bright evenings. How will this have an effect on your utility bill this month? Some might feel like they are conserving electricity by not having to use lights inside the home but, recent studies have cast doubt on the energy argument. Air Conditioning and other household electronics have had a big impact on the U.S. electricity usage patterns according to Matthew Kotchen of the University of California, Santa Barbara. Kotchen found that daylight time led to a 1% overall rise in residential electricity use, costing the state an extra $9million. So even though daylight time reduces the use for household lighting, researchers found an increased demand for cooling on summer evenings. So the question to ask is... If time shifting is such an energy waster why are we still on daylight saving time?

The poor oak tree didn't survive the high winds last night. This is why our dogs were going nuts last night! We had both dogs in our bed all night. Storm season is here! So happy we have our home and equipment protected from lightning and surges. If your home is not protected this season call AirOne AirConditioning. Most people wait until they need something before they get it, however, in the case of surge protection, if you wait until you need them... It's too late.

Ever wondered what is floating in your air? What is your family breathing? Put your indoor air quality to the test. Test your home for Mold, Bacteria or yeast. AirOne was able to help one family in San Marcos improve their air quality. Take a look at the before and after pictures below. Red spots indicate bacterial colonies. Black or brown fuzzy spots indicate mold.

Is your breaker tripping? It might be trying to tell you something. This came from our house and we were so grateful the breaker tripped. It was a clue that something was wrong. We just bought the house a year ago and when another A/C company connected the unit in the house they were short a few inches of wire so they thought lets just splice a smaller piece to it and put some black electric tape and it would be all good. It was not good this is an good example of what NOT to do. If you can see in this picture the wires were burning and almost burnt out house down. Please call a professional to check your a/c unit if the breaker trip it could save your lives and your home!

All of us at AirOne are testing our air quality at our homes. One of our Techs in Kyle tx just took the test and here are his results. As you can see he keeps up with the cleaning of his unit and there wasn't much mold or bacteria ! We will be installing a Bi-Polar to see if the air quality improves. Mold = white to black fuzzy area. Bacteria = shiny white or red spots
Yeast = shiny yellow spots
