It was 9pm and the Aurora alert was out. I pinged my mates Ahsan, Aizi and Nashid. We first set out to Mount Nelson Signal Station where we saw the most amazing flurries and light beams. After an hour of admiring the light, we set out to Mount Wellington, overlooking Hobart. It was -1 degrees up on the Mount Wellington summit, with a light breeze. Neither of us were ready for the cold, but we decided to brave it anyway.

The frostbite was totally worth it.

This is one time when the aurora looked so much better with the naked eye than on photos.

This photo was shot over the sky in St. Helens, Tasmania. The following two paragraphs pretty much sum up how I felt under the clearest sky that I have seen in a few years.

'So, the next time you are having a bad day, try this: close your eyes, take a deep breath, and contemplate the chain of events that connects your body and mind to a place billions of lightyears away, deep in the distant reaches of space and time. Recall that massive stars, many times larger than our sun, spent millions of years turning energy into matter, creating the atoms that make up every part of you, the Earth, and everyone you have ever known and loved.

We human beings are so small; and yet, the delicate dance of molecules made from this star stuff gives rise to a biology that enables us to ponder our wider Universe and how we came to exist at all. Carl Sagan himself explained it best: “Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return; and we can, because the cosmos is also within us. We’re made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.”'

Between Yameen's cold and disdainful response, the police's silence, Umar's conflicting statements, and general public apathy, the staunchest optimist could loose hope.

But my sister +Zaheena Rasheed, and family and friends of Rilwan give me hope, because they refuse to relent in the face of the seemingly insurmountable.

By not giving up on Rilwan, they too have dared to be different, like the ‪#‎MoyaMeeha‬. And that is what #MoyaMeeha embodied; freedom to think and act conscientiously.

The will of #MoyaMeeha shall thrive, and no amount of pepper spray or ridicule can stand in the way.

To those who are enticed by shiny lights, fireworks, music shows and comfort themselves with memories of sweet nostalgia;

'None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.'

~ Jonathan Wolfgang von Goethe

And no bars can enslave those whose minds are free.

In the 50 years of ‘independence,’ freedom in Maldives has never been under threat as much as it is today.

I'm a bit torn on this verdict.

On the one hand, I'm happy that a potential victim of police and criminal system screw-up has been released, albeit after already spending two years behind bars. Unais' allegation of police framing innocents by putting drugs in pockets is all too familiar.

On the other, I do wonder if Unais is a drug lord and he actually did have drugs in his pocket when he was caught. In which case, the Supreme Court/ criminal justice system just released another drug peddler back onto the streets.

I suppose this is just another 'normal' occurrence in the larger scheme of things: the innocent are victimised and the guilty are painted clean by the criminal justice system everyday. Moreover, Supreme Court is, for the most part, complicit in most of the crappy happenings in the country.

Tldr; Either the police tried to frame an innocent man, or the Supreme Court released another criminal back onto the streets. That is, regardless of whether Unais is innocent, or a drug lord, the public are screwed.

FIFA should give Israel the red card. FIFA should also show the red card to Blatter.
