Try this lighter fall favorite by holding back on the sugar and topping it with toasted oats and pecans. The result is a nutty, sweet and satisfying dish with just 7 grams of sugar in a 1/2-cup serving — much less than the classic marshmallow-topped sweet potato casserole, which clocks in at 36 grams of added sugar.

Pecans are loaded with healthy unsaturated fat and more than 19 vitamins and minerals including vitamin B and E, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc!

Healthy Sweet Potato Casserole:
4 pounds sweet potatoes (about 4–5 large)
2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
1/4 cup 1% milk
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/4 cups old-fashioned oats (certified gluten-free if necessary)
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake sweet potatoes on a foil-lined baking sheet for 1 hour or until tender. Peel sweet potatoes and mash in a large bowl. Stir in 1 tablespoon butter, milk, eggs, vanilla, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and salt. Spoon into a lightly greased 11x7" dish. Stir together 1 tablespoon butter, honey, oats, pecans and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Don't miss out on our laser therapy event and happy hour THIS Thursday, November 15th, from 4-6 pm!

Laser therapy is used to treat a multitude of conditions, including osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis results from overuse, trauma, or degeneration of joint cartilage with age. The cartilage covering the bone gradually wears away. In some cases, bone growths called "spurs" develop in the joint where excess friction occurs. An osteoarthritic joint may or may not cause symptoms, including pain, swelling, or redness.

Laser therapy, with its primary action of pain relief and anti-inflammation, is an ideal treatment for the arthritic patient. The biochemical cascade of events initiated by laser therapy inhibits the inflammatory cycle, accelerates healing and relieves pain.
