St Andrews Beach

A recent trip back home to Australia meant i had a brief opportunity to photograph some of her stunning beaches, this one unbelievably was completely devoid of people as far as the eye could see, it was just me, the beach, a gorgeous sunset and the Sis impatiently waiting ;-)

This shot was all about timing & getting the right light, i also used a 0.9 GND filter to darken the sky whilst retaining detail in the foreground.  Processing in LR5 & Photoshop to bring out the contrast in the sand and sky :-)

Lions Gate Bridge, Vancouver BC... I was able to spend a few days in beautiful Vancouver, in what the locals tell me as one of their best Summers in years! :-) #lionsgatebridge   #vancouverbc

Wonderful Juneau, Alaska

Recently some of my work travels took me to one of my favorite capital cities, and amazingly had a string of perfectly clear days - which for Juneau which sits in essentially a rainforest climate, was especially awesome.

This was taken overlooking the aptly named Favorite Channel North of Juneau, the sun had gone down below the mountains in the background and bathed the whole area in pretty subdued light, whilst a faint mist was starting to roll in...

Processing including mid-tone adjustments & tonal contrast :-)

The colourful and gritty Casco Viejo, Panamá.  A wonderful and historic part of Ciudad de Panamá, attacked (and almost destroyed pirates) now designated a UNESCO world heritage site :-)

Gorgeous Grindelwald / First Switzerland.  A recent trip to the very pretty Lauterbrunnen & Grindelwald valleys amazed us with its epic vistas and majestic mountains.  This is a 5 shot hand-held HDR to accommodate the vast dynamic range in the scene.

Magical Mesa Arch

Its funny how things can loom much larger in the mind than in reality, after a 4am start (still not early enough mind you) i still found myself racing to get to this wonderful spot prior to sunrise, then finally making it there to see how "tiny" Mesa Arch is compared to my minds-eye version!

That said i was equally amazed at how stunning the scene was and capped of a wonderful road trip to Arches & Canyonlands National Parks!

So in a slight diversion from my true love of Landscape Photography, a recent trip back to Alaska and to Juneau in particular lead me to some old gold mine ruins, whilst a little creepy the crumbling buildings and incessant rain created a wonderful atmosphere begging for some HDR treatment :-)

One of my HDR shots from a recent trip to beautiful Baja California, sometimes these shots I reckon can be a bugger to get them to a point I'm happy with, but the reward is a unique look and vast dynamic range :-)  This has creative filtering applied and selective layering in Photoshop

Kooyna Beach

This gorgeous beach is on one the narrowest parts of the Peninsula south of Melbourne Victoria, Australia.  For such a pretty day there was nary a person to be found as is often the case with many of Australia's wonderful beaches...

This was taken over the Christmas break where I was able to sneak in a quick jaunt with the Sis to get some piccies, wrong time of day but even considering that I was happy to be able to capture some of the amazing beauty Victoria has to offer.
