Let's help Eddie have a better life. 

This holiday season has been very rough for Eddie, a six year old Seal Point Siamese saved from a feral colony. As a result of severe and chronic ear infections, Eddie’s ear canals have closed up. Other treatment methods have failed and due to increasing hearing loss, Eddie is becoming withdrawn and cowers at human touch.

His constant pain can be alleviated and the quality of his life greatly improved by undergoing ear ablation surgery. A long and expensive procedure, the ablation involves removal of the ear canal and is Eddie’s only hope for a pain free life.

When you stop by for lunch and like it so much you come back for dinner, you know you've found a gem. All fresh, delicious, perfectly-seasoned dishes — simple, vibrant and expertly crafted without an ounce of pretension.

For lunch, I tried the cornmeal-crusted fluke, which was accompanied by a light sauce, farm-fresh green beans, sweet tomatoes and blueberries. My boyfriend feasted on the mini burgers, hugged by cheesy chive biscuits, which were, we agreed, the best burgers we've ever had (and we've had a few in our time).

Returning for dinner, my boyfriend and I eagerly ordered a smattering of deliciousness: housemade gnocchi, chicken agnoletti, and the charcuterie. When I say everything was utter perfection, I mean it. Throw in superb, friendly service with a staff who knows their stuff on wines, cheeses and meats, and fantastic recommendations; a beautiful, homey atmosphere and a passionate, talented chef and owner — we think we may have found the PERFECT dining experience.

This place is an antique-lover's fantasy come to fruition! Five floors of vintage clothing, accessories, tchotchkes, toys, furniture, art, vinyl, jewelry — the works. An almost overwhelming collection of both fine items (like a fancy fur coat from the 1950s) or low-brow (felt Betty Boop poster!), you could literally find gifts for anyone on your list. The staff will notice you're carrying items and hold them for you downstairs at check-out; super helpful, especially if you're lugging around some breakables. Convenient parking, and they even have two very clean bathrooms, which makes for comfortable all-day shopping (a smart business move on their part). Spend hours in here digging for hidden gems — you'll most definitely discover them.

What you've heard is right — reservations are non-existent, so be prepared to either head there super early for dinner, or wait in line. But the line's worth it, if only for the Mexican corn (which, here's a secret: you can ask to have scraped off the cob and served in a bowl) and braised short rib. Expect maginative dishes like "peanut butter and jelly" foie gras on toast with peanut brittle, or opt for more classic, but still flavorful Spanish tapas, like the duck drumettes (divine!). Dessert options are few, but just enough; dare you to have enough room to even order any.

From the open, warm atmosphere to the attentive and friendly service, last night's dinner was — hands down — one of the best meals I've had this year. We started off with boar sausage over whipped turnips; carrots and quinoa with a goat cheese sauce; and the "Egg in a Jar" (if you order any of the small dishes, this one is a MUST); an impressive beginning to an increasingly phenomenal meal. The chicken "shared" dish was cooked via sous vide (a method I have yet to encounter at a restaurant in this area), which made for literally THE best chicken I have ever tasted — moist, flavorful, juicy — accompanied by a perfectly-seasoned side of trumpettes, crispy pork belly and miniature potatoes. Don't miss a seat at the bar with Josh Taylor, who crafts some incredible, innovative cocktails — you've never tasted anything like the Conant's Island, a blend of House Infused Cucumber Vodka, Rice Vinegar and Green Tabasco. My only regret? That we didn't have enough room for dessert — a great excuse to return (as if I needed one!).

This is the place for drinking with friends. Gets pretty packed on weekend nights, but worth the jutting elbows for a killer bar menu, especially if the cocktails are served by Emma. A delicious and strong craft cocktail, perfectly paired with just-made, piping hot french fries is the ultimate late-night delight.

One of the best places to drink in Boston. A superb, extensive cocktail menu with fantastic bartenders. Get the homemade soft pretzel bites with spicy mustard to compliment those craft drinks, and, if you can, sit in the Library room — a private, posh area for a larger gathering.
