ChromeVox Next is the codename the Chromium Team uses for a major new rewrite to ChromeVox¹ that uses the automation² API instead of injecting content scripts in tabs. It will have better support for things like web views in apps, web components, and more.

To run ChromeVox Next now in Dev Channel for all subsequently opened tabs and page navigations, you can simply open the ChromeVox options page by pressing <Search> + <Shift> + o and o; then type "next" with focus in the web content and you'll hear a successful "You are now running ChromeVox Next".

For info, ChromeVox Next code is part³ of ChromeVox and it can also be enabled for any page by appending #chromevox_next_test to the end of any URL in the omnibox.

The QA teams at +Canonical and +BQ now do automated power testing on actual devices so they get notified when a software update decreases battery life.
