Google+ Local (GMB)  -

Quick Question - How do I find out who has claimed a GMB listing? My client needs to manage his listing but doesn't know if he claimed it. When I check from another account my client has Google says the listing is already verified by someone. I then proceeded to try and request admin rights but I can't provide a username or password of the current admin. Is there a way for Google to just send details to the current admin as I'm sure the client will receive that one way or another.

Thanks!

Called support. They then called my client to check I was genuine (I am a pretty genuine guy btw) and then support unverified the listing so I could then claim and verify via postcard. After discussing with the client we have decided that a branded page now suits their needs better (the business model has changed and they are now national / international). Is it best to just set up a branded page and then delete the local page once it is verified or can the local one be switched to a branded page?

I made a presentation to a group of business people in Lancaster (UK) about web design and the value in choosing a designer not just based on a price. When you hire a web designer you are investing in an extremely important marketing tool for your business (your website) and all your online promotion will surround this so choose wisely.

What do people do about dupe citations that you can't remove but could claim? I have a client and we are cleaning up citations but we are hitting situations where dupes with old addresses and phones aren't being removed. What I'm wondering is if we claim these listings we can then at least control what they say so would it be a good idea to claim listings and update NAP to be correct which would mean dupe citations that use correct NAP? Thanks!

You probably already know this one, but this is my go to article for remembering how to handle dupes from each directory.  +Nyagoslav Zhekov http://www.ngsmarketing.com/how-to-remove-duplicate-listings-from-different-business-directories/

Search Changes ☲  -

Maps page now showing first 10 results instead of first 3. I have only just noticed this today so not sure if I am just being slow on the uptake. When doing a search before i was only seeing 3 results (or less) and would have to click the 'See results in list view' link to see more. Now it seems they are displaying 10 instead of 3 before requiring you to click 'See results in list view' to see all. I'm hoping this is a new change and I haven't just been dumb enough not to use the scroll bar ;-D

Curtis Mayfield? I meant a sample of Sly and The Family Stone's 'I cannot Make It' http://youtu.be/1-sGpyIm1Rc. But it also reminded my of Curtis Mayfield's 'Suffer' http://youtu.be/xUFkeUOrbyI.

Embedded Google Map Shows USD in UK for UK Hotel - Please help. I'm trying to embed a client's Google Maps on his site but the embed code always shows their room price in USD instead of GBP. I'm getting the embed code from maps.google.co.uk and when you view the map there it shows the room price in GBP but when I embed the map it displays in USD? Can anyone explain how I can switch it to show in GBP?

I spend most of my work day online with 3 monitors staring back at me. Recently I took a step to change this and get out in the 'real world' in a professional capacity of course - I joined #BNI Hermes chapter in Lancaster, UK and I feel it is helping me grow as a professional. I've just been redoing my website as a direct result of my experiences at BNI over the last couple of months and wrote a quick blog post about my efforts to provide a more face-to-face personal service wherever possible in the rather anonymous line of business revolving around the internet.

Anyone else doing something similar?

On-site SEO  -

Who here is using or updating their site to use HTTPS?

I'm wondering how much of a boost people might be noticing and whether I should be convincing my clients to pay me to get their site using HTTPS.

Also, what advice can people offer for getting this done correctly?
It’s rare when Google reveals any of its actual ranking factors, so it came as a big surprise when representatives announced they would reward sites using HTTPS encryption with a boost in search results. HTTPS isn’t like other ranking factors. Implementing it requires complexity, risks, and costs. Webmasters balance this out with benefits that include increased security, better referral data, and a possible boost in rankings.

+Tony McCreath Great point.

I should have been more specific about the bounce rate (or not mentioned it at all), our previous site was terrible for mobile visitors. That was a huge reason for re-development in the first place.

A fun metric for us has been the average pages per visit and average time on page.

haven't heard this in years. Still sounds great. Just realised the riff must have been inspired by the legend that is Curtis Mayfield.

+Garry Pickles Thanks! I can't decide if Google Glass is something I'd love or hate. I think it would be fun to use it personally but if I was around someone else with a pair or a group of people all wearing Glass I'd hate it...hahaha...

My son's rugby team played here recently. We felt welcome and the club house gave them a good meal after the matches - better then most other clubs. Ground was pretty good too.

What a great deal! My wife and I went on a week day with our three kids and the grandparents. We only had to pay for myself and my wife because under 12 yrs is free as is over 65 yrs. Weekdays are also half price. So we paid a total of NT$60 (about £1.20)!!! - that's £0.60 each for my wife and I to see pandas, tiger, elephants, crocodiles, leopards, and lots more! Certainly no complaints here. Very close to the MRT station so very easy to get to wherever you are in Taipei.

Just what we were looking for. Paula and Bob were very welcoming and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They kept the bar open later for us and the breakfast was fantastic - just what we needed after the heavy stag do the night before. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and all at a very good price. I think our next stag will have to be in Blackpool and when we are looking for hotels we'll be calling here again - thanks Bob and Paula! Hope to see you soon.

These guys know their stuff. I asked Imprezzio to consult on a case of ours we were getting stuck on. Nana was a great help sharing some very interesting insights and I also learned strategies that will definitely help on future cases. Thanks guys!
