This week it seemed like the series was trying to be The Guild, which in some ways is cool as The Guild was awesome, but I'm not feeling the originality here.

BUTTTT.... it was defiantly a marked IMPROVEMENT on the first 2 episodes.

Ugh so American's really LARP like this? This is painful! Someone needs to send them to a European fest event to educate them.

The P site is a placeholder, so take a look at O to give you a sense of what we're after and about. O is coming up very, very quickly: http://www.interactiveliterature.org/O/index.php and it promises to be a monster and a lot of fun.

I am constantly asked which is my favourite LARP system at the moment so I decided to make a table for people to look at. This table is for LARP events which I have attended this year.

My table is based on my own experiences as a LARPer and what I currently look for and find important in a LARP system. My experiences are based upon being a LARPer for around 16 years and playing, crewing and running around 10 different systems in that time. This year I have LARPed in 6 different systems, both playing and crewing and counting both sanctioned and mainline events will have done 26 different events by the end of the year.

I have pointed different areas of a system from my own perspective, 0 being none or very poor and 10 being excellent or a lot. The areas I have listed are just what I personally look at and the scores are just from my own personal experience. I have not taken into account personal weighting of some areas over others as I know everyone finds some aspects of an event system more important then others and assigns them more importance. The table is therefore a guide line for people to look at and see what systems they may like to try based upon what’s important to them.

Please click on the link below to see the full table. A summery including special features and a brief system run down is listed below:-

Total score summery:-
154 Points == Profound Decisions - Empire
150 Points == Curious Pastimes
139 Points == Lorien Trust
131 Points == Dumnonni Chronicles
106 Points == Herofest LARP - Letting Off Steam
103 Points == Majestic Oak LRP - Vale

Profound Decisions – Empire
PD's Empire is a really good total immersion medium fantasy LARP festival system. The role play and kit standards are very high and a lot of work goes into set dressing. The company operates to a very professional standard which really shines through with its customer service. The game world is player lead and a great deal of fun to play in.

Curious Pastimes
CP is a long running high fantasy UK festival system. The system has a little bit of everything for everyone with some of the best mass combat battles and scouting system currently within UK LARP.

Lorien Trust
LT is the UK's longest running and biggest high fantasy festival LARP system. The system is very good for new LARPers and offers a game world with features to suit all tastes. The magic and ritual parts of the system are particularly enjoyable with a whole world of hidden possibility's for character advancement.

Dumnonni Chronicles
DC is a low fancy medium sized LARP system. It has the best site of any LARP system in the UK and the levels of character immersion can not be equalled by any of system. The system is based around making its players feel like heros and they do this well.

Herofest LARP - Letting Off Steam
Herofest: Steampunk is a medium sized LARP system which is Steampunk based. This is a very fun and friendly system to play in and the Steampunk parts of the game world, coupled with nerf weapons for combat give it a fresh and new feeling from other systems on the market. The real joy about this system is the level of role play across the board which makes it great fun to play in.

Majestic Oak LRP – Vale
Vale is a small festival system and is new to the UK. It is a pure Player vs Player system and based upon two camps warring on each other and scouting around their site for resources. There site is massive and really good fun to play in and for the game world being PvP based gives players some real scary moments.

Finally finished the armour I was making this week and below is a photo time line of the week..   Took about 56 hours (approx) over 7 days.

Around 600 holes punched, 140 holes drilled, 300 rivets hammered in, 3 meters squared of steel cut, shaped, sprayed and attached, 1.5 meters squared of thick leather hide cut, shaped and attached and various other trimmings such as buckles, fur and chainmail all crafted and attached.

End result? I am fairly happy with it but can not wait to see how it looks on teh person I made it for and see how it performs in combat?.... that will be the real test.

They are wearing trainers and WTF is up with that combat ?!??!? .... This series could be the single most damaging thing to the perception of LARP ever made.... like..... EVER!

It's parody and satire. Unfortunately, there are people out there who will believe this is LARP - but too bad. They'll be missing out on all the fun.
