Questions - Mobile  -

I have an iPhone, with about 23000 photos stored in iCloud Photo Library.  I did a restore of my phone recently, turned on iCloud Photo Library, set it to optimize photos (downloads low-res version).

Now, Google Photos wants to re-uplaoad all 23000 photos via auto backup.  Is there a way to have it ignore photos already on the device and upload only new photos moving forward.  I really don't feel like spending days uploading photos to Google Photos just to get it to be at the point where it will upload new photos.

+David Collantes That makes sense, but Dropbox Carousel is actually smart enough to skip those.  I use all of these to back up photos.  Hopefully Google will add those smarts to their app!

Questions - Desktop  -

Before Photos, I had uploaded my pictures and videos to Google+ via the auto backup tool.  Once Google Photos came out, with the better "free storage" options, I decided to delete all 30k+ photos so I could reupload them and not have them count toward my sotrage limit.

The problem is that although the new auto backup tool said it was backing up photos, and it took about 4 solid days of uploading to finish, 99% of the photos are NOT showing up on the web or iOS app, nor in my Google Drive folder for Photos.

It's like it thinks they are already there since I had uploaded them a long time ago, so it is not adding them to my library.

Any ideas?

Photos started being added to my Google Photos stream as soon as the upload started. But the upload finished on Monday night, and I'm still seeing new photos appear in the "Recently added" and I'm still seeing notifications for new stories being created.

Before the great purge of 2015, I had seen a post on here about certain things to disable or tweak in order to get rid of lag and improve battery life. Could someone post those steps please?

Disable S-Voice. It's usually that simple. Personally, I would go through the master list of apps and disable everything that you don't use. I now have 29 preinstalled apps disabled and my device flies and I didn't even have to touch developer options. Also, install Greenify to control which apps are open in the background.

Back to point 1, make sure at least S-Voice is disabled if nothing else . That piece of bloat is the absolute devil.

Does Lollipop on the Note 4 have the setting where it will only connect the the 5ghz version of a wifi network if both 2.4 and 5 is available? The Nexus 6 has it, figured it was a lollipop thing.

I'm using Kitkat and I can do that. Just turn smart network off. Scan for WiFi, both bands show up, select what one you want

Any camera improvements in Lollipop on the Note 4? Specifically, better burst mode, better skin tone in low light settings, better shots of fast-moving objects, etc?

The burst mode in KK is less than great, at least in trying to capture a moving subject, and it is limited to 30 pics. I was hoping they would have improved shutter speed and removed the limit.

As for the skin tone, certain lighting conditions leave people looking really washed out, at least compared to other phone's cameras in my household.

how does the Moto360 stack up as a heart rate monitor compared to a dedicated one, like a Polar strap you would wear on your chest?

Dedicated is definitely better; heck, even my OTC finger clip blood oxygen sensor does better. There are many things to love; unfortunately, this is not one of them.

Are there any good roms that incorporate the s-pen? Also, what's the best lollipop rom as far as stability?

Touchwiz based Roms keep all the functionality. I used to use Beans or Beanstown on my Note 2. Really smooth and full featured.

I read yesterday that in the latest Drive app for Android, there is code that hints at a camera upload feature like Dropbox has. Part of them splitting off Photos from Google Plus. Anyways, this would rule.

For those of you using Chromebooks in the classroom... what do you use to manage and secure them?  As in, an MDM solution?  Full disclosure, I work for a large MDM provider, but I really just want to know what you technology coordinators are using.  I know Google has their own software, but anything else that you find works better?

Thanks!

S5 folks that have gotten the official Lollipop update from your carrier... have you noticed any improvement in the camera?  As in, quality of lowlight pictures, burst mode, 60fps video, etc?
