This is my favorite cord-shortening and tangle-free storage technique (with video!)
Someday soon(ish), virtually all of your electronics will transfer data and maybe even charge wirelessly, but in the meantime, we're stuck managing cords and cables.

Be careful when doing this with mains and power cables as they can overheat if wound too tightly, it forms the basics of an induction heater.
I have used that technique for small lengths of ropes for years. Never thought of using them for cords. Although I agree about doing this with "powered" cords and heat issues. Definitely will use for storage.
