Seems to me there are reasons that Apple products are so expensive sometimes. One example which springs to mind is, I've heard that Geniuses have wide latitude to replace your device "instantly." That can be costly, but in many cases that builds brand loyalty. Besides...the hardware itself is really decent.
However, for the typical case, where you buy the device and take reasonable care of it, it seems a premium to pay, whereas for a typical product from anyone else, you can get more of something for the same price, like more flash, more RAM, or the like.43w
