They continue to evolve Windows Subsystem for Linux until it actually is a "subsystem for Linux". Next they replace Windows Kernel with Linux Kernel. Next they make all kinds of subsystems that require proprietary windows layers. They acquire primary development in several open source Linux projects, making them ever-so-slightly more closed. Finally they only test those projects in Windows Subsystem for Linux.

And by GPL I mean you can just use the free and open source code to your liking if you are no longer happy with the current management. So no, Microsoft will not destroy Linux.
