The goal of the study was to determine the impact of abortion legislation on maternal mortality. What may be shocking to some readers is that the Mexican states with personhood laws prohibiting abortion showed “23% lower overall maternal mortality and up to 47% lower mortality from complications of abortions.”

Abortion supporters commonly argue that restrictive abortion laws lead to higher maternal mortality rates. But a revealing new study conducted by the MELISA Institute and published last month in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) has firmly debunked this common pro-abortion argument.

Since 1960, U.S. violent crime increased 550%, births to unwed mothers up 400%, teen suicide up 300%, divorce rate up 100%, SAT scores down 73 points, and welfare receipt up 630%.

This in depth book i've started reading, Legislating Morality, referenced those figures from a 1990s study, "Leading Cultural Indicators" by William J. Bennett.

The United States was never an expressly Christian nation and it should never be. However, many of the founders of the United States were Christians and understood "natural law" to be the moral law of the Bible. Here are many of their quotes: http://www.wallbuilders.com/libissuesarticles.asp?id=8755

I find it critical that prayer was denied to children at school in 1962 by the Supreme Court. In fact, I'm concerned the court today is a bigger threat to health and morality than the so oft maligned Congress and Presidency. 4 Justices over age 70 and might open appointments for the next President.

Whose Morality Should We Legislate?
Is it Wise?
Is it Legal
Is it Enforceable?"

The Iron Range is an informal and unofficially designated region that makes up the northeastern section of Minnesota in the United States. It is a region with multiple distinct bands of iron ore. The far eastern area, containing the Duluth Complex along the shore of Lake Superior, and the far northern area, along the Canadian border, of the region are not associated with iron ore mining. Due to its shape, the area is collectively referred to as the Arrowhead region of the state.

Grand Marais is a city in Cook County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,351 at the 2010 census. It is also the county seat of Cook County. Grand Marais is French for “Great Marsh,” referring to a marsh, which in early fur-trading times was 20 acres (81,000 m2) or less in area, nearly at the level of Lake Superior, and situated at the head of the little bay and harbor that led to the settlement of the village there. Another small bay on the east, less protected from storms, is separated from the harbor by a slight projecting point and a short beach. In allusion to the two bays, the Ojibwe name for the area is Gichi-biitoobiig which means "great duplicate water," "parallel body of water" or "double body of water" (like a bayou), a reference to the two bays which form the large harbor off Lake Superior.

The North Shore of Lake Superior runs from Duluth, Minnesota, United States, at the southwestern end of the lake, to Thunder Bay and Nipigon, Ontario, Canada, in the north to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, in the east. The shore is characterized by alternating rocky cliffs and cobblestone beaches, with rolling hills and ridges covered in boreal forest inland from the lake, through which scenic rivers and waterfalls descend as they flow to Lake Superior. Americans often refer only to the Minnesota shoreline between the city of Duluth to the international border at Grand Portage as the North Shore.

Grand Portage National Monument is a United States National Monument located on the north shore of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota that preserves a vital center of fur trade activity and Anishinaabeg Ojibwe heritage.

The Grand Portage is an 8.5-mile (13.7 km) (2720 rod) footpath which bypasses a set of waterfalls and rapids on the last 20 miles (32 km) of the Pigeon River before it flows into Lake Superior. This path is part of the historic trade route of the French-Canadian voyageurs and coureur des bois between their wintering grounds and their depots to the east.

Excellent baked goods...the cut-out cookies are second to none... The prices are very reasonable, the customer service is very good, and the shop is quaint. Also, pre-order ahead of time for certain breads like cinnamon bread...24 hrs in advance.
