The Daytona International Speedway has a motorsports legacy, pedigree and mystique about it. The first Daytona 500 happened in 1959 when the speedway opened and it’s been the site of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season opener for over 30 years. Jeep Beach began in 2003 and since then it’s always been a tradition to have at least one day of the event located at the speedway.
The Daytona 500 has witnessed some of motorsports most memorable scenes and it’s the site of Jeep Beach festivities this Friday and Saturday, April 25-26. It’s fitting, because the renowned race originated with part of its course on a Daytona sand beach. All Jeep Beach is doing is bringing the beach out to the track for two days featuring an obstacle course, show and shine, raffle, and vendor fair.
“When you’re there at the speedway, you can feel it in the atmosphere,” says Landon List, 4 Wheel Parts Brand Manager/New Products. “There’s the smell of gas fumes in the air, plenty of sun, and a lot of Jeep enthusiasts gathered in one spot.”
There will be a walkway directly between the obstacle course and the vendor row, allowing Jeepers to mingle and interact while they watch the Jeeps take their turns. “Last year, the line to get on the obstacle course was insane,” recalls Mitch Walk, president at Trek Armor.
He remembers being at the Daytona Speedway for Jeep Beach’s day there last year was one of the highlights of the event. “I'm excited to get back out there with Trek Armor’s booth with our new Bartact lineup this year,” says Walk.
The raffle will feature prizes donated by top off-road industry companies. Among them are Bully Dog, donating two GT Jeep tuners, GenRight Offroad, contributing front and rear aluminum tube fenders for JK and a front stubby JK bumper, and Method Race Wheels donating a set of five 17-inch street wheels.
Vendors at the speedway will have Jeep parts and accessories for all different applications and budgets. Spectators can attend Saturday’s events at the track for a fee of $10 and be a part of a great tradition.
