+Adam Gillrie while I respect your right to live your life as you see fit...your approach is exactly what I object to in all authoritarian regimes (large or small). there is a pervasive belief that certain things are to be hidden from the majority of people. That if they never see these things, they'll somehow be better able to cope with the world as it is. That their lives will be happier without that knowledge.

Well perhaps that's true, but one can be very happy while staying drunk and oblivious,  It does not mean it's a lifestyle choice to be admired.  I am very much of the opinion that children are a lot more robust than we pretend, and that our victorian-influenced attitudes towards "proper" has destroyed an entire generation's ability to engage in radical, critical thought.  If they never see it, how can they possibly know enough to object to it?

I haven't read Unfinished Tales but all this is in the Silmarillion. Saruman's name is misspelled with an extra "o" in the video.

I am very sorry I have not been moderating better.  I have banned a few of the foulest members of our community.  Please feel free to alert me should any other members join who are not adding to the discussion.
The community is not to debate religion.  There are plenty of other communities to do that in.  If you are found using foul language or harassing other members you will be banned, no warning.

We are now the 3rd largest Sci-Fi Community and are about to break 13,000 members.  So Congrats everybody for getting us here but I've got a couple of questions.

1.  Where did the other guys go? I'd like to believe we just passed them by but it appears some of the communities have disappeared.

2.  What is the most annoying thing about reading through the community? Should we get rid of all self-promotion?

Cool photo.  As long as self-promotion is in the right folder, I don't mind it.  I like to read the links to interesting articles that members have written.  Sometimes a book catches my eye too. :)  It is all good.

Worst shrimp I've ever had in a restaurant. Small, burned and tasteless. Not a place I'll ever come back to.

Very happy with the size of the sushi rolls. They do a great job and I've enjoyed dinning in and takeout from them.

Great visit. It's been a few years and I've apparently developed a concern about my teeth being sensitive. They were so easy to work with. I felt right at home, got to meet everyone and my teeth feel great. Their office is beautiful and the staff are super friendly. Very good experience.

Favorite of many schools I attended. I worked on my business degree and found the teachers in the business program to be veteran retired CEOs who shaped my professional career.

I've used Todd Smith for almost four years now. I can honestly say the man cares about my case. I've had the rare opportunity of having to deal with just about everything possible in a divorce. In four years we've covered and continue to cover the full spectrum of problems in a divorce and at every step of the way Todd has been fighting along side me. Divorce isn't fun, I highly recommend not going through it if at all possible, but if that's not an option a good lawyer makes all the difference.

I went in to get my Iphone replaced after having problems for months. They took a look at it and told me they would replace it but informed me they didn't have that particular model in stock. I had 2 choices, wait for them to get it in stock. Maybe sometime this week or give them my phone and go without a phone so they could order a replacement. I asked if they had an equivalent or better model they said they wouldn't do that. I chose to wait to see if they get one in stock as I can't give up my phone for a few days. Called today to check on phone stock. Was placed on hold for 25 minutes, called on another line and after 8 more minutes was stold phone is still not in stock. My warrant is coming up in less than a month and there is no guarantee they will get the phone in stock. I can't understand why they can't flip the phone to an equivalent of some sort or at least order a phone for a customer since obviously they need the inventory. Asked to talk to Manager he isn't in. We'll see, my recommendation drive the extra distance to International Mall. Pros: Shorter distance than International Mall Cons: It's not Apple. I have a broken iphone after days of trying to get it fixed. Left on hold when needing to ask simple question.

I've banked all over the Tampa area with every major branch but BB&T has impressed me the most. It's always done the usual things seamlessly. I was able to visit ATM's out of state without an issue, drop off and withdrawals were all fine but it wasn't until I had an emergency that I realized how good they are to work with. I needed 4 years worth of archived bank statements and I needed them that day. Maryanne dropped everything she was doing and spent the entire day getting me bank statement after bank statement. Sometimes I had miscalculated (I'm not terribly organized) and I needed her to print bank statements I thought I didn't need. At each step of the process through that long day Maryanne was there helping me get the statements. Not once did she tell me she had to do something else, or couldn't give me more time, or I'd have to call back tomorrow to get them. She kept at it and called me everytime a new statement was located. I thought this type of service was dead but I'm pleased to say it's alive and well. I'm looking for reasons to do things with this bank and it's not often I've said that.
