This is an eloquent illustration of how join syntax works.

How to Inner Join three tables in SQL Query
Some times joining more than two tables is tricky for beginners be it INNER Join or OUTER Join or MySQL or any other database. This tutorial attempts to help to formulate How to join multiple tables in single SQL query. http://javarevisited.blogspot.com/2012/11/how-to-join-three-tables-in-sql-query-mysql-sqlserver.html

This is a fantastic read -- a collection of 40 maps which each explain some aspect of the world, like what sea trade routes looked like in the colonial era, or the languages of Europe as measured by tweets, or what Africa might look like today if it had never been colonized. All sorts of fascinating things in here, and most of the explanations link to even more interesting maps; I'm going to be lost in here for quite a while.

"More than ever, the industry as a whole is ready to roll up its sleeves and work together on issues impacting all San Franciscans and to make sure our city's economic success reaches all of our residents and neighborhoods,"

Ok, step 1, get rid of the charter buses and use that money to improve the bay area's public transit infrastructure.  That's an easy one.

The more difficult one is step 2, more affordable housing. A lot has been said about the average home price going north of $800k in the City, but another scary notion is the rental price on a 1BR in many parts of the city is going above $3k/month these days. Forget about blue-collar workers affording that, it's getting to the point where white-collar tech workers can't afford to live here. So then the question becomes, who can afford to live here? On this path SF will become a city of Sultans and Kings, matchbook condos for the 1%.

very cool

You need to stop and watch this video. It's about an automaton built in the late 1770's, shaped like a small boy. It writes, programmably, in an elegant cursive script, using a goose quill. On its back is a dial which stores the program; around the dial is a sequence of blocks, one for each letter, which can be arranged by the user and which tell it what to write. Vertically in the center of the device is a stack of hundreds of cam wheels, which encode the "font;" each letter is encoded by a set of three wheels which encode the three-dimensional (yes, including pressure) motion of the pen.

It still works to this day, and in the video you can watch it write. The attention to detail in this is truly extraordinary; it refills the pen and shakes the quill, moves the page and moves its eyes to track what it is writing. This is truly one of the great works of mechanical computation. The automaton, along with his other works, are on display at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

More about this ingenious device, and his other works, here: http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/11/the-writer-automata/

Hopefully this trend will persist... we could look back some day and view the internet in terms of pre-Snowden and post-Snowden.
