Tune in tonight!

Product and Brand Evangelism

Evangelism is about "preaching the good word" of your product or brand.  It requires passion, commitment, and belief in your cause.  Some large companies have a specific job position for Product Evangelism, but everyone who believes in what they're doing or selling needs to be able to evangelize, or to hire someone who can.

Join us on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at 8 PM ET as we discuss product and brand evangelism (including personal brands) with our amazing guests +KrisTen Slevin, a.k.a. #k10 , +Sana Ahmed, Product Manager at +Sprinklr and Technology Advocate at DigitalWhining.com, and +Adam Eyster, Video Editor / VFX Artist who has worked on more than 60 theatrical titles.

We'll be discussing how you build and sell your personal and professional brands through evangelism.  We hope to see you there!

We will post the YouTube Link about 15 minutes before showtime.  Feel free to share and invite others.

My revamped Video Editing Demo Reel

So I've spent the past several weeks pondering over my reel, as it needed a major update on material and the intro segment.   This is what I came up with and it is a lot more fluid and interesting to sit through.  The first segment is the newest project I've been working on and it will be released shortly.

Hope you guys enjoy!  Feedback appreciated!

Well, guess that's all the long showers I'll be having for a while!

This is pretty evident just seeing the crappy ski conditions in Lake Tahoe this past weekend :-\

Has anyone else experienced issues syncing LARGE files (GBs+) on Google Drive?

I'm so frustrated that I cannot depend on Drive to upload extremely large files (and yes I have enough available space).  Dropbox is more dependable in this instance which is a major letdown.  More frustrating is neither one of these services provide a 'progress bar' of the upload status
.
Is anyone else having this issues or any solutions?

I have had the best luck with mega. I like it better than box, Dropbox, or Google drive.

Todays WOD

#crossfit   #fitness

Thanks to +Nik Focht I attempted a shared WOD

For time: 75lb

75 power snatches
75 push presses
75 power cleans
75 back squats
75 deadlifts

I did 75lb but exhausted after 25 power snatches so I scaled the WOD to 25 of everything. It took me 14:35 while +Nik Focht accomplished an RX in 25min.

I have some work to do :-)
Definitely recommend this one.

Now for my review.  Great gym, easy to locate and a large selection of classes to drop into.

I had the option to register online first ($25 for a drop in and free for first time CrossFit'ers).  I paid when I walked in and signed the waiver.  Friendly staff, large locker room and nice showers with shelves to store your belongings.

This gym is HUGE for a box.  I believe there are anywhere from 3-5 classes per hour, and someone told me they have around 2k members, so they do tend to fill up quickly.  I was lucky and had a relatively small class.

The instructor was Sara and she was very friendly and helpful right away.  Our WOD was pretty challenging today: 20 front squats (from the ground, not rack), 30 box jumps, 40 kb swings (American), and 50 WBs.

Sara introduced some new mobility techniques and really focused on performance in the warm up with rowing.  This is one reason I love to visit other Boxes, it's always good to see what others have to offer.

During the WOD, she was very aggressive about pushing me to my max (probably because she knew I wasn't a beginner, which is not a bad thing.)  By the time the WBs came around, I was struggling to finish, but I did with her on my tail, pushing me to the finish line and not letting me rest too long.  I RX'ed the workout but finished last.

I really appreciated this class and the folks were friendly and informative.  I would return here and I would encourage other Xfit'ers to stop by if you are in the area!

Great little Italian joint that is has a fantastic dining atmosphere as well as a menu that isn't too overwhelming. The food is prepared well, the portions are just right. We had a 3 choice appetizer with Salmon Tartar, the Fresh Ricotta w/ mint and honey, and the Broccolini w/ Lemon. We also shared a Cesar Salad then ordered half portioned pastas. This was MORE than enough food for two people....But when in Rome, so we had the house Chocolate Pizza as well...too much! :) But great. Definitely would return to this joint.

This is my first Crossfit experience, and so far it has been nothing but outstanding! Andrew and Jeff are very knowledgable and really focus on your form and overall performance. I have been to many gyms and have had many trainers, and I assure anyone reading this, these guys LOVE to make sure you are on your A game and that you are pushing yourself. Not only is the staff great, but the facility is nice also. It is BRAND new and just opened. All of the equipment is fresh and modern. It's nice to have machines and tools that are not grimy and gross when you pick them up. There is plenty of space to move around freely. There is nothing more aggravating that arriving to a trainer or a class, and the program is not prepared or is half assed. At Crossfit Solcity, everything is pre-planned and professionally executed. I really recommend that everyone give Crossfit a chance. You would be surprised the amazing techniques that these guys can teach you in one class. Stop in, they will give you a free class to try it out! UPDATE: 4 MONTHS LATER. I have continued to visit this gym and my strength has sky rocketed. My build, motivation, and social life within the gym has continued to grow. I strongly recommend anyone who wants to try out CrossFit for their first time, stop by here and grab a free pass to try it out. The staff is beyond helpful and will really take the time to make sure you enjoy yourself, and gain the results you desire!

This hotel is brand new and I stayed here for business. The rooms are IMMACULATE and so modern. Everything is clean, the shower was my favorite. The rooftop bar is a great extra to just hang at in the evening and have a bite or a drink w/ friends. The beds are comfy and the staff was very pleasant. I would highly recommend for the price staying here versus the tourist traps. A lot of local places to walk to easily as well. I will definitely return to this spot.

Great BBQ spot, perfect for a stop on the way to Tahoe. Portions are just right, not overwhelming and the selections of meats were nice. Not enough greens as choices of sides I must say.

Def one of the top sushi restaurants I've experienced in SF so far. The atmosphere is very 'upscale'ish. Service was above average. Food was well prepared and a nice selection of rolls to choose from. I will definitely revisit with friends or on a night out when I want something I can depend on.

Nice choice for a quick breakfast or brunch. The prices and selection of food are reasonable and quickly served. The outside patio limits what areas you can sit in with alcohol and it can get quite tight/crowded. Acceptable for a quick get together if you are in the area.
