+Ben Farmer and I are excited our idea, Maker Networks, was selected for the "What's the Big Idea" contest by +Knoxville Chamber  and +Knoxville Entrepreneur Center. I bet some of the +Knox Makers group will find our idea interesting. If you're interesting in 3D printing, we'd certainly be interested in your input during the competition next weekend.

I posted this in the Knoxville Google+ community, but in case you're in the area and not part of that group...
Have you heard of CodeStock?

It's a local technology conference we have right here in downtown Knoxville!  It's a 2 day event - July 11th & 12th this year - with over 100 different talks ranging from web development, databases, entrepreneurship, maker topics (3d printers, etc), IT management, game development, and lots of other topics.

Tickets just went on sale yesterday (May 7th) and they are going fast.  If you're an IT professional (or know someone who is), give it a look.  Tickets are less than $100 (w/ lunch included both days) and we think it's one of the best conference deals you'll find!

We also have a few sponsorship slots that are still open this year as well, so if that's of interest, definitely get in touch.

I love +Adafruit Industries - they always have interesting products and today is no exception. A flashlight for Google Glass.

http://adafru.it/djM

NEW PRODUCT: Face the future with handy illumination. We’re proud to carry the first hardware accessory for the Google Glass! Why stick with plain old face-wearable technology when you could accessorize? GlassLight is a voice-controlled Glass-mounted flashlight. Requires XE16+ firmware on your Glass so let it over-the-air upgrade before installing. No rooting/jailbreaking required. We have a step-by-step tutorial for installation steps, source code, hardware disgrams and more over at the site. Designed by Deqing at thinkcreate.

If you've been wanting Google Glass, the store is open for purchase without an invitation today.
Today’s the day to become a Glass Explorer

We let the cat out of the bag, you marked your calendars, and the time has finally arrived. If you're a US resident who is 18+, you can purchase Glass and join the Explorer Program at glass.google.com/getglass

The Explorer bundle costs $1500+tax and includes your favorite shade or frame, a charger, pouch, hard case and mono earbud. As an Explorer, your feedback will help to shape how Glass evolves over time.

We’ve got a limited number of spots available, so don’t wait too long – we can't wait to meet you and hear about your first adventures with Glass.

If Star Wars had this guy in it, I'd definitely like it quite a bit more... :)

+Andrew May I guess you don't have to build this now...someone beat you to it. :)
Glascouter turns Google Glass into Dragonball Z Scouter!

Probably the long waiting time for the next software update drove me to create this glassware... This is halfly a kind of joke app to turn your google glass into Dragonball Z scouter.

For those who are not familiar with it, Dragonball is one of the most popular Japanese anime, and scouter is the most popular gadget in that anime by which you can read the power level of people.

APK and source code are avilable at github: https://github.com/thorikawa/Glascouter

Have fun and good weekend!
