Everyone of those people in this photo is obviously a hardened criminal out looking for their next victim!
It's the openly displayed firearm properly secured in a fitted holster that gives it away!
Wait... maybe I have this wrong?
When was the last time anyone has ever seen a criminal carrying a openly displayed firearm properly secured in a fitted holster? Oh yeah, NEVER! :-)

Tested out some of my Lehigh Defense Maximum Expansion ammo today. 45LC .

Fired from my Rossi Circuit Judge into bare gel from about 5 yards.

The one on the right was shot a little to the side and, consequently, partially exited the side of the block. This caused the uneven expansion. The other shot was more to the center and, well....You can see for yourself.

Penetration was right around 11 inches. Wound channel was a bit over 3 inches. You can see the cavity created. I'd like to see more penetration but with this kind of damage, I'll take the trade off.

I think I may have to try out the .45 ACP and 9mm flavors......

Anyone else tried these out yet?

+Wayne Vinson  I don't disagree with that logic, or the fact that this might not be the absolute optimum choice just from the " 7" of penetration is ammo failure" comment I thought you were implying that ANY ammo would be better than this.

Id still rather have this that something in FMJ that might penetrate further but hardly expand if at all for instance.

Training  -

Well, I've got an Appleseed coming up in August so I decided to see how much my skills have suffered from last year. I haven't had my AR out for several months.

Set up at 25 meters. Ran the test as the rules require with time limits and mag changes.
Scored a 201 but it was ugly. I think I'm still jerking the trigger while sitting.

Time for some more practice!

Well, despite being told I would need a special tool, I took my xd45 up to the shop and decided to try to remove the old sights myself. They were snug but nothing a little creative use of tools couldn't solve.

NOW I have my new XS Big Dot night sites installed! Can't wait to try them out. I can already tell that target acquisition is faster.

Ask a Gunnie  -

So, I go to one of my local gun stores because I recently bought a set of XS Big Dot sights for my XD and wasn't keen on messing up my gun trying to do it myself.

He quoted me $65 and I thought, "not bad."
So I'm filling out the sales slip and I ask how long it would take.....

"4 weeks. But for $200 you can go to the front of the line..."

He had the balls to get testy with me when I politely thanked him for his time but declined to use his services.

I can buy the press and do it myself for $69.

Anyone else had the misfortune of removing the sights from an XD?

I had my local smith put Trijicon night sights on my xd mod 2... took him less than 10 minutes.
