New Zealand Destinations - Fiordland National Park

Copland Track, West Coast of the South Island

The Copland Track is located south of Fox Glacier on the West Coast in the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area. Its a 7 to 8 hour walk (17 km / 10.5 miles) into Welcome Flat Hut and an absolute highlight of our'Winter Rimu' trip that runs from May until September. Very popular amongst local Kiwis, the Copland Track has experienced a boost in popularity in recent years and is now also becoming well known on the international hiking circuit.

This is partly thanks to the Department of Conservation (DoC), who has poured considerable resources into improving the track to make it wider and safer, including the installation of modern swing bridges (dont worry theyre perfectly safe and not as scary as they may look!). This newfound popularity is also thanks in part to the increased spotlight on natural hot springs dotted around the country, lots of which are only accessible on foot!

Somniloquy IV

Before & After graphic with EXIF data: https://goo.gl/817Sio

Somniloquy is the term that describes the act of talking while asleep. All of the images in my Somniloquy series have to do with exposure blends and creativity: day shots for the foreground and night shots for the sky, processed and blended via Lightroom & Photoshop CC with a dream state in mind.

Ship Creek Haast West Coast New Zealand

One of our wild, beautiful and vastly unpopulated New Zealand South Island beaches. You encounter Ship Creek en route from Franz Josef Glacier to Haast.

These long clean beaches are known for their driftwood and native shrubbery contrasting sharply with the clean black and white sand stretching for hundreds of miles in either direction.

Standing on these shores, feet dipped in sand, you'd  think the colors had been enhanced by Ranginui the Maori Sky god with a few finishing touches by Tangaroa, keeper of the Sea and Papatūānuku the earth mother.

New Zealand Tours For Singles

Whether you're part of a Meet Up singles group, a local singles travel club or a group of single friends, our adventure tours are a great group holiday option. In the past we've organised custom itineraries for singles groups and they've been a blast (we run adventure trips for single travellers in South America and Nepal too!). Singles trips are dynamic and exciting where you're all in it together 'rain, hail or shine' as they say!
Together you'll hike our most incredible trails, paddle our pristine waters, bike through our untouched forests and share in the memories at the end of each rewarding day. Soak in remote hot springs on the Copland Track on the West Coast of the South Island, share a double sea kayak as you paddle across Milford Sound and go out together in the bustling adventure capital of New Zealand - Queenstown! http://activeadventures.com/new-zealand/custom-special-interest/singles-tours

We spent our honeymoon in October 2008 traveling through New Zealand on an Active Adventures guided tour. It was an amazing trip! We had a small group and three awesome and experienced guides. The photos from the trip are beautiful! There were so many great experiences that my husband and I still talk about and joke about. For instance, our kayak experience was a hoot! It was calm as could be in the lagoon, and then coming across to get to land we hit a headwind and we paddled and paddled like mad and were getting nowhere together. It was so hilarious we could not stop laughing! We are an active couple, and a social couple and this tour was magnificent. The guides were beyond incredible. They made the trip even better with their fun personalities, positive spirit and wonderful knowledge! A shout out and big thank you to Ken, Tim and Zoe, from Nadine & Bob!

The word "Amazing" does not do justice to the trip and experience we had with Active Adventures. We are a family that has traveled the world and never used a tour company. Active Adventures created a unique experience that you can't achieve on your own. Extremely knowledgeable guides along with a great travel plan allowed us to have a once in a lifetime experience in New Zealand. We look forward to our next Active Adventure trip.

Two trips with Active, summary? Amazing. Friendly staff and perfect attention to detail. They took us to the ends of the earth and managed to make it relaxing!

Everyone fantasizes about their "dream trip", but Active Adventures delivers it. The small group camaraderie, the guides who know their craft and can still cook fabulous meals, the off the beaten path locations, every detail is planned and carried out smoothly. And, of course, there is New Zealand herself.

I want to take a minute to rave about my experiences with Active Adventures. It's been a few years since I traveled with them. I went to New Zealand on their tours of the South and North islands and the following year I traveled to Patagonia. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and the guides are amazing, especially our bilingula guide Cynthia in South America. We went on some unforgettable hikes and adventures. Most of my traveling companions were great people. The food was good and the staff did everything to accommodate our needs. I was happy with the places we stayed - not fancy but just what we needed. As a single traveler, I appreciated that they did not charge a single supplement but found me roommates. I look forward to returning to both New Zealand and South America and hope to travel with Active again. I have recommended them to friends and would encourage anyone wanting to get outdoors in the areas where they travel to sign up now!

I had a Fantastic time on my Active Adventure New Zealand trip! Perfect way to travel as a single women I thought.. Everything was organized and I felt at ease knowing I was taken care of... I feel as though I was able to see all the best sights in New Zealand and LOVED the hiking that we did every day.. Our guides Dave and Amanda were amazing guides and I had a wonderful group of other people to travel with as well.. I would definitely consider booking another trip like this again... Only a few small things I would change.. Definitely more time hiking, less time eating! Although that was fun as well... Aloha from Kauai

My wife and I did our honeymoon with Active New Zealand. It was, simply put, the best experience of our lives. The adventure was unparalleled- the staff was amazing and scenery fantastic. Every component of the trip was meticulous planned and well executed. Active NZ has my highest recommendation.

My wife and I have done two New Zealand tours with Active - One in the North Island and one in the South Island. The guides were terrific and the adventures were fantastic. We had a great time and wouldn't tour with anyone else!
