Mission Statement: To provide quality internships tailored to each intern’s individual interests, which promote community engagement and offer opportunities to make long-term impacts.
The African Community Internship and Placement Programme (ACIPP) has grown from a small placement programme into a West Africa wide operation now encompassing Ghana, Sierra Leone and, in the future, Liberia (in summer 2013). ACIPP pioneers a new nonprofit model, called “sustainable service”. When you pay ACIPP for your placement fee, your money does not become revenue for a company, but instead 100% of the profit from ACIPP fees is reinvested into our partner organisations and services. ACIPP partners with these local organizations in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia to increase local capacity and engage local talent.
This model allows you to magnify the impact of your internship by making your programme fees a donation toward future service through local NGO’s. So while you create an impact in communities now with your service in schools, hospitals, and orphanages, etc. your impact continues by paying for foundations to support new projects and open new placements for future interns through increased partnerships. ACIPP West Africa also funds/supports community based projects and youth initiatives from proceeds of fees paid to the programme. This will help small organisations to operate despite the perennial low funding of small grassroot not-for-profits in the region.
Interns are provided with housing, airport transfer, in-country cultural orientation, 2 meals daily, access to local doctors, and in-country support staff. Internships are usually no shorter than 8 weeks, and can last up to 18 months.
With 5-years experience in Ghana, we hope to share Sierra Leone and soon Liberia with the rest of the world; providing LOW COST, competitive internship programmes in Human Rights, Youth Development, Agriculture, Media, etc.
Some examples of our internship opportunities are: The Human Rights Commission in Sierra Leone, Planned Parenthood Association (Ghana and Sierra Leone), the Center for Accountability and Rule of Law (Sierra Leone), the Conservation Society of Sierra Leone, Coastal Television (Ghana), and Awaawaa2, a school for the hearing and mentally impaired in Ghana, among many, many others!
All of our internships are geared towards students and young professionals from ages 18-30.
Come with US to Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia!
