What makes a good financial institution GREAT?...Excellent customer service is the answer. Here are the 3 things that a customer would look for in great service at a bank or SACCO:

1. Quick service: Improvements in I.T systems efficiency/ automation of processes and implementation of Queue Management Systems.
2. Complete service: The speed should not compromise the quality. The front service personnel must be trained to handle almost all queries at once or have relevant collateral on the ready e.g product brochures.
3. Good service: Friendly staff; from the guards to the service attendees (in-terms of greetings, polite language and showing a genuine willingness to assist a customer).

It is a common misconception that if a strategic plan is not somehow complex, then it isn’t good enough. However, the contrary is true, where the winning strategies are usually the simplified ones.

Why? This is because this type of strategy is easy to communicate, which makes it easy for everyone involved to understand and implement. With a simple and clear strategy, the management/institutional leadership can be given platform where they can deliver and reinforce the message even in a passing hallway conversation, numerous times every day.

The World bank funded ; Western Kenya Community Driven Development & Flood Mitigation Project (WKCDD/FMP), was created with a mission to alleviate poverty and enhance sustainable livelihoods in five counties in Kenya’s Western and Nyanza regions: Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and Siaya.

During its course, the funding agencies of the project wanted to gain insight into its progress, so that they could evaluate its impact in the community in terms of creating wealth, lowering incidents of poverty and reducing vulnerability to recurrent flooding, and so they sought our involvement in helping them acquire these insights.
