Stars similar to our Sun have been found to suffer superflares according to new research using the Subaru telescope. These types of Sun-like stars were first catalogued by the Kepler space telescope. Could our sun produce similar phenomena?
A team of astronomers has used the High Dispersion Spectrograph on the Subaru Telescope to conduct spectroscopic observations of Sun-like "superflare" stars first observed and cataloged by the Kepler Space Telescope. The investigations focused on the detailed properties of these stars and ...

Remember #thedress  meme? There is more to it than just opinion. It reveals more about how our brains rely on experience to interpret colours. To think that an infamous internet meme would end up contributing much in neurological science is simply awesome!
People really do see different colors in the same photo of a dress, suggesting that our internal models shape color perception far more than has been recognized.

It's been a while since I posted anything so here is something of some significance from the field of machine learning.... #tech   #AI

Computers have never been good at answering the type of verbal reasoning questions found in IQ tests. Now a deep learning machine unveiled in China is changing that.

On its 956th sol (day) on Mars, the rover Curiosity used its Mastcam to image a stunning sequence of the Sun (Sol) setting over the local horizon at Gale Crater, where it has been exploring since August 2012. The result is this stunning animation which has been smoothened out to resemble a real time video shoot with some haunting music in the background to up your awe a little more.

Secularists want it but many muslims say that their faith needs no improvement i.e. no need for a reformation to enable it to coexist better with the world. But the truth is that the reformation of #Islam   is already here,. Its called #ISIS  .

A thought provoking and admittedly disturbing analysis in the link below....
