I've noticed a common bias that shows up in some founders: they believe that their competitors are stupid or uncreative. They'll look at other businesses and identify inefficiencies or bad systems,...

This was prominently displayed on every seat of the "Merlin's Apprentice" ride at Legoland Boston, and has resisted my (very unpracticed) attempts to decipher it.  The symbols are Futhark, or close to it, but using that as a guide produced gibberish.  Could just be a substitution cipher but it's a short sample and I don't have the patience to try lots of permutations.

I learned over the weekend that a historic figure in science-based medicine has died. If you know anything about the history of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you will know this woman’s name, Frances O. Kelsey, MD, PhD. It turns out that Dr. Kelsey died on Friday at the age of 101. Somehow I…

Wait, what?
A miniature laser that can emit light inside a single live cell is surprisingly easy to make. And fat cells are natural-born lasers.

What could possibly go wrong?
Scientists connected the brains of rats and monkeys to form an "organic computer" which could perform simple tasks and computations.
