I've gotten some great thank-you letters from nonprofits, and I've also gotten some real stinkers. Thank-you letters make a HUGE impression!

Dear Donor,

We would like to thank you for all the support you have given us over the years. Your contributions have helped impact the lives of many underprivileged individuals and has given us the courage to strive even harder in our efforts and touch the lives of many more.

We are delighted to let you know that we have integrated a new payments solutions platform to give you the convenience of making donations through an online payment gateway (via credit card, debit card, netbanking) directly on our website. If you are not comfortable donating online we now also offer cash and cheque pickup services from your doorstep once you have entered your details online.

Donating is now even more convenient in 3 easy steps as shown below. So Donate Now. http://www.nachiketango.in/Donate-now.html

Warm Regards,
P.D.Baraiya

Love your neighbor -- even when he's vacuuming.
Living in my antique apartment has its share of quirks. The high ceilings and drop-pane windows are beautiful, but they make heating and cooling extremely inefficient. The location is within a ten-minute walk of my job, my friends' house, and my favorite bars and restaurants.

Everyone should listen to hip hop. ESPECIALLY if you consider yourself a Christian, if you're an academic, or if you're concerned with social justice issues. This is why.
This one's a little long. But it's important. Christian academics are supposed to engage the culture around us. We're supposed to interact with music, art, literature, film, and philosophy. We're supposed to pick things up, examine them, take them apart and reassemble them, and understand how ...

In which I wax poetic about an ant:
Billy Collins' poem “Aimless Love” strikes a special chord with me. The poem, wherein Mr. Collins falls in love with “… a wren/ and later in the day with a mouse/ the cat had dropped under the dining room table,” makes me remember my first love. I was only a child, and it was a brief affair — a ...

I always crash around 3:00 p.m., and these definitely help.

It's a hectic time of year for nonprofits. If you're feeling distracted or burnt out, try one (or a few!) of these methods to refresh and refocus yourself:
September is a hectic month for nonprofits (although, seriously, what month is NOT hectic for nonprofits?). It’s that awkward month when summer fundraisers are drawing to a close and preparations for year-end campaigns are in full swing. For busy fundraisers, it’s easy to get burned out and distracted when you’re trying to juggle projects at [...]

"I am no longer butter scraped over too much bread. I have Rested."
Most Bibles say that God rested on the seventh day of creation. “Rested” is a good word. I have always imagined God relaxing on Sundays — maybe kicking back in an armchair and watching the world progress, or maybe taking a Sunday nap. It's a nice image. “Rest” is a pleasant word, ...

I had a ball getting to know George Lowe (Official) for this article. He's most well-known for his voice-acting, but many people don't know that he's also an art collector and is an artist himself!
The voice, the man, the art photography by Philip Pietri There’s a treasure nestled in the neighborhoods surrounding Cleveland Heights Boulevard. A quiet, unassuming home houses an art collection t…

"Love abides in even the depths and in the voids beyond the stars."
Every newspaper I pick up is awful. The whole world, it seems, is in an uproar. Fear of war stalks families and countries around the globe; Ebola is throwing whole governments into panic; ISIS continues its brutal campaign across the Middle East; politicians stateside and abroad fling insults ...

If you want to keep your donors, remember that they're not nameless, faceless tallies in your accounting ledgers. Talk to them!

Want to keep your donors? This is the easiest way to do it:
Donor retention is a topic of never-ending discussion in the nonprofit industry. Amazing consultants and bloggers all over the country (and the whole world!) have published countless articles and hosted scores of forums on the topic. If you’re overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information and strategies out there, there is one very, very easy [...]

I get irrationally irritated when my routines are disrupted... and this is why.
Every morning, I array my tools — lotions, liquids, powders, brushes. I darken my eyes, shadow and line. Some days I sing softly, some days I work in steely silence. I call it my war paint. The ordeal is part of my ritual, the morning routine that separates my time at home to my time in the real ...

New Relief Journal article: "In a skeptical world, fairy tales foster a sense of wonder, an appreciation for the unexplained and the magical. They’re morality tales, practical warnings, glimpses of the magical world that exists in the 'black boxes'science and logic can’t explain."

I've gotten a few plants from these guys, and they're always great. The owners are also extremely helpful if you have questions about how a plant should be grown or used medicinally or for food.

I've been calling to try to schedule an appointment for two days. The first day I got a recording saying they would call me back within two hours. The next day the phone just rang and rang; the voicemail box is full, too, so I can't do anything. Everyone talks about how awesome this dentist is -- I'd love to give him a shot but can't if I can't make an appointment.

The firm I work for exclusively uses GLT for our office supplies. They're easy to work with, offer the best prices, and always get our supplies to us the next day. We don't need anyone else!

I love this store and will be back on a regular basis. They have so many awesome products and they're lots cheaper than a grocery store. They make their kim-chi in house. The woman who runs the store is super helpful and will always help you find anything you need. Favorites so far: frozen dumplings, ginger cookies, and all the spices. They also have every kind of noodle you can think of.
