“J, you have no idea! I keep singing praises all over the place. “Helpful” is an understatement smile emoticon I’ve never had anything give me the relief that this DVD does. And that’s a really big deal b/c I have chronic and severe back pain (but not so severe anymore!) Love love love this practice.”

Brogis Need to Recognize. March 3, 2015. Given the patriarchal history of yoga and society, the predominance of women in yoga classes and the marketing efforts to entice men is not only profoundly ironic but indicative of changing gender dynamics. As universal concepts continue to be teased out ...

While both men and women need to play a role in restoring mutuality, it behooves men to bear the greater burden.

Given the patriarchal history of yoga and society, the predominance of women in yoga classes and the marketing efforts to entice men is not only profoundly ironic but indicative of changing gender dynamics. As universal concepts continue to be teased out of the dogmas, we are challenged to let go of deeply ingrained modes of communicating. While both men and women need to play a role in restoring mutuality, it behooves men to bear ...

If we make yoga practice into hard work that never ends and never succumbs, rather than a forgiving effort that is easily and readily enjoyed, we paint our experience of life in the same unyielding hue.

Yoga Teacher As Friend. February 3, 2015. The traditional roles of yoga teacher and student have collapsed under the weight of cultural appropriation, capitalism, and scandal. In the aftermath, yoga teachers often find themselves trapped in a nowhere land somewhere between fitness instructor and ...

A Studio which offers therapuetic yoga classes. Unlike some yoga classes the teachers emphasize adjusting the pses to your ability. The classes strongly emphasize the coordination of breath with movement which facilitates an energizing and relaxing experience. The teachers are knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming

I have been practicing with J. for years and it has been a wonderful experience and I keep bringing more people with whom I want to share it. It's nurturing environment and strong foundations make it a great place for beginners and life-style yogis.

I just came from my second class at Abhyasa Yoga Center. I cannot tell you how lucky I feel to have such a facility in my neighbourhood; the studio space itself is perfect in it's simplicity, the teachers are knowledgeable, kind and patient. I highly recommend Abhyasa.

I am now in my 25th week, started classes when I was just 9 weeks along. Cannot express enough how these classes helped me! Both physically and mentally. Abhyasa Yoga Center offers prenatal yoga classes 3 times a week, all teachers are amazing. The classes are small and intimate and you have all the personal attention you need. I really do recommend this place, it will be your special treat of the day.

Visiting family and wanting to take a class I wandered by to find an open class starting soon. Very inviting. Wonderful space. Highly recommended and thoughtful teacher. Turned out to be owner. Recommended some studios in my area. Have been back twice on subsequent visits. The place to go in N. Williamsburg.
