Sunday mornings can be this good. These delicious pastries made from wheat flour, coconut and cardamom are a popular breakfast bread along the East African coast from Somalia to Tanzania. They are called khamiir or bur saliid in Somali and mahamri in Swahili. Sometimes we slit them open and stuff in a samosa or scrambled eggs.
