I can't seem to install a plugin using the Wordpress admin interface. Get the following error:

Unpacking the package…

Could not create directory.

I can verify that the plugin folder has nginx as the owner

MariaDB / MySQL  -

I have set up two VMs with Centmin Mod- one with NGINX and the other with MySQL. However, I cant connect to the DB server when trying to install Wordpress. I have made sure that the IP of the Web Server is in the white list and the TCP_OUT Port is added in csf.conf.

You need to on MySQL server allow web server IP via CSF as well as grant permissions via MySQL grant for web ip and MySQL user to connect to MySQL server.

Is there a best practices guide for securing Centmin? Or is it secure enough out-of-the-box? Would appreciate if anyone can share what they have done.

Centmin Mod auto installs and enables CSF firewall http://centminmod.com/csf_firewall.html so getting started guide would have some tips http://centminmod.com/getstarted.html. By default SSH uses passwords so ensure you generate strong 16+ digit passwords where ever you can http://strongpasswordgenerator.com

CentminMod Installation  -

I've noticed that after installing CentMin, resolv.conf tends to clearout and I have to edit it back to add nameservers for downloading any addons like Wordpress. Is this expected?

Also, when I get a new server with based CentOS, I do a yum groupintsall base. Is this ok?

that isn't meant to happen with resolv.conf getting cleared ! Could be your VPS clearing it ? did you reboot your server ?

YUM install is fine

I was thinking of using a separate Vps for MySQL. What would be a good configuration for the Web and Db servers? Looking at iwstack.com

Looking at running 2-3 WordPress installs and expecting about 30000 page views per day

I tested Iwstack with 2cpu 1gb ram   with mysql on the same vps doing easily 100000 page at day 90% reading 10% writing (maybe with max 0,5 load but don't remember exactly )

Loving the mode but have a couple of questions
1) How do I delete a vhost

2) How can I add a subdomain to resolve to the root web directory? I have domain.com live with wordpress on another server and would like to create test.domain.com on a new server set up with Centmin Mod. Then add wordpress and import all the data and test it out. Once everything looks good, change the DNS of my my domain to the test domain

Ok- that was as easy as that. Just added sub.domain.com and restarted nginx and php and now sub.domain.com is resolving to the wordpress install

Hello good people at Craft. I was wondering if I could tap your collective wisdom to set up a website that does the following. First and foremost, is Craft mature enough to do this and if it is, how would I do it:

I want to create a community website for foodies. The idea is to first add all restaurants with all their outlets and menus. So, for example, a restaurant would be McDonalds and then add all their outlets so users can know what is where or close to their location. The restaurant should also be categorised with cuisine(s) while the outlets should have info about delivery/dine-in etc. Would also like to have for each outlet a "Good For" such as "Business Lunch, Romantic Evening etc.

Next, I want to be able to add the menu items for each restaurants along with their prices. Taking the above, McDonalds has Big Mac which is of type (Burger) and prices US$2.99 for example. Users should be able to rate each of the menu items instead of the restaurant as a whole.

Finally, users should be able to follow other users and I would like lists something along the likes of top foodies,  top restaurants, top types such as Burgers etc.

So, is this doable in Craft or is another CMS recommended. If Craft is good for it, I could use a little help setting up the structure of the website.

I'm not as knowledgeable as some here, but I think you should have no problem with the content setup and relationships, Craft does that really well out-of-the-box.

However, following other users, adding ratings to restaurants and all of that social functionality would require writing a couple of custom plugins, I don't believe there's anything existing that does that in Craft.
