(Abandoned Ghost Station Tour) Jubilee Line Charing Cross Underground Station, London, England

My first photo from the 'Hidden London' Charing X tour organised by the London Transport Museum.

Last Friday I went down to London primarily for this tour and do a few other bits of photography. The tour was excellent, by far my favourite too that the LTM have organised.

This part of the station was closed off when the Jubilee line was closed off when the Jubilee extension opened and was no longer required. London Underground still turn and stable trains here so I suppose its still partly used, just not to the general public.

Its very surreal that a massive part of Charing Cross station is closed and hidden away from public eye, some of you may pass by the two doors and fake wall that hides these set of escalators. Also some of you maybe thinking that you recognise this station and you would be right, this Ghost station was used in the latest bond film Skyfall and also Horror film called Creep as well as many more.

I am trying to work out what the orange and yellow patches are here, I have not found them in any other stations although I think they are tactile strips to help people who are visually impaired get around on the London Underground, they often test things here before rolling them out to other stations.

I could have spent hours down here but unfortunately I only had one so I got as many photos as I could possible get.

Warren Street Underground Station, London, England

One I took on my last trip to London back in February and an image that I will add to my 'Conceptual Fabrication' series. This is only a very subtle interpretation of the station, can you see the differences in the photo?

This is Warren Street, a station I rarely ever get a photo from due to the fact its so busy and full of people.

I am really enjoying doing this series of photos as it makes you see photos that you normally discard in a completely different way, they may not be everyones 'cup of tea' but I quite enjoy doing them.

Talking about London, I went down yesterday for the tour of Charing X, the hidden part of it. I could have spent hours down there but only had 1 hour so was limited on the photos I could get but very happy with what I got. Also managed to squeeze in a few new London locations in too. I will sort through the photos and get them uploaded for you all in the next couple of days.

Enjoy your sunny weekend!

Munich Olympic Stadium, Munich, Germany

One from my visit to Munich last year and the 1972 Olympic Stadium. I have so many photos to go through and edit at the moment but I suppose thats a good thing isn't it?

I really enjoyed my tour of this place, very insightful to learn of its history and home to two of Munich's footballs club until their move in 2005 to the new Arena on the other side of the city.

I have seen many of photo of these seats from the stadium and I too wanted to get my own interpretation of these famous green multicoloured seats. Surprisingly I found it quite difficult, I could have done with a telephoto lens which sadly I didn't have with me but did keep on trying until I got this and was happy with.

I have my visit to London this week where I am visiting the Ghost Station at Charing X, I can't wait and really looking to getting some photos from this rarely seen part of the station. Also got a list of new places I haven't visited before so really looking forward to some new stuff! I just hope there are enough hours in the day ;-).

+Lee Vickers You don't need permission to film for private use as long as you don't use a tripod or flash.

A Landscape, Architecture and Urban Photographer from North Yorkshire, England.
Introduction

My name is Aaron and I am based in the stunning county of North Yorkshire having just moved from Hertfordshire. My passion for photography started back in 2009 when I took a trip to New York. I took along my ‘Point and Click’ camera but when I got back to the UK I was so disappointed with the images of the iconic landmarks in New York and so because of this I went out and bought my first DSLR.

The type of photography that I enjoy revolves around the urban and city environment and its stunning, often unnoticed architecture. I find myself photographing a lot of stations, building interiors and spiral staircases in cities around the UK and Europe.

Over the last couple of years I have had my images printed and had articles written in several national photographic magazines including Amateur Photographer Magazine, Digital SLR Magazine and Digital Camera Magazine. My top achievements to date are 3rd place overall in the Amateur Photographer of the Year Competition 2013, Runner Up in the Lines of the Landscape award in Landscape Photographer of the Year 2011 and more recently receiving Commended in the Architecture Category Sony World Photography Awards 2014.

I am always keen to learn and try new photography techniques and always look forward to exploring new architecture and cities!
