An updated set of water drops after a 2nd attempt. The setup was similar to the last set, except I shot from a lower angle to better highlight the drops.

The Beautician

My submission for #PortraitTuesday 10/18/2011 curated by +Laura Balc.

I don't currently have any Beauty style portraits to share, hopefully that will change in the future. I thought this might be the next closest thing for me. If anyone is interested, my daughter is currently accepting clients. For some reason, she has a wide open schedule.

Autumn in the Berkshires

Here is my submission to #FallFriday curated by: +Karin Nelson and +Alexander S. Kunz

This photo was made during a trip to the Berkshires mountains in Massachusetts. During the drive, there was a small pull off with this view. I thought it was particularly nice.

In honor of harvest time, here is a photo taken from a trip to a local farm to pick apples. There were several different varieties, all of which were delicious. Looking at this makes me hungry for apple crisp.

This Week on #PortraitTuesday
4 October 2011 1st Issue

Seems that Tuesday ended all over the world. And what a great Tuesday, being the first official #PortraitTuesday I can say that I was very impressed with the number of people that participated. 101 it's a great start number, don't you think?
Such a great experience, and first of all it was so great knowing you all and seeing such enthusiasm (some of you posted two or even three photos) and passion in your work.

You all contributed with wonderful and interesting portraits. We had a lot of beautiful ladies, wonderful children, wise old people, travel portraits, family portraits, musicians/stage portraits, a couple of young man portraits, film portraits, cute animals, sport portraits, abstract portraits and some concept portraits too. A great colourful collection I would say :)

Some of my favorite ones in a randome order where: +Kirk Jordan +Luís Pedro +Ed Buziak +Chris Ney +Alfred Pleyer +Claire Grigaut +Jacqui Jay Grafton +Jürgen Keil +Luís Pedro +Dru Stefan Stone +Cora Reed +Donna Doherty +Jason Hermann +Igor Krivokon +AJ Schroetlin +Gilbert Wayenborgh +Kami Naru +Kevin Reglos +David Heath Williams +Peter Sandin +Thomas Pöhler +Pooja Kishnani +Fatman Lee +Richard Murphy +Dino Morrow +Ed Dombrowski +Gabriele Castelli +Frank Yuwono +Lawrence del Mundo +Kelly-Shane Fuller +Eustace James +Bill Pevlor +scott doubt +Gopal Bhaskaran +Guillaume Jouis

If I have missed someone or someone's work please excuse me and don't hesitate to comment or contact me for adding you here.

A bit of playing around with some off camera flash and water drops. I used my Vivitar 285hv remotely triggered using a Cactus V5 radio trigger from camera right. I bounced the flash off of a white sheet of paper in back of the water drops (from faucet) and tried to get the timing down. It was a hastily put together project and I think it may warrant revisiting a bit more deeply.

Philanthropy

My Submission for #mirrormonday, curated by +Catherine Vibert and +Jonny Scholes

A reflection of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Through the window, is a slate with inscriptions listing various donors. This is one of my favorite photos because I like to think that it has a "double exposure" quality to it.

Moon over Garden City

My submission for #ThirstyThursdayPics curated by +Giuseppe Basile. This is a predawn exposure of Garden City Pier in Garden City, South Carolina. It was a 3 second exposure at f/11.

I am from the Northeast US and, don't get me wrong, I love the Jersey Shore. However, there is something about the beaches in South Carolina that just make it more enjoyable for me. Maybe it's the gentler waves or the softer sand, I don't know. The pier in this photo is home to many anglers during the day as well as a local mascot pelican named, Charlie.
