Nicely written piece, with good insight on the "worth" of web developers vs other, possibly more meaningful work.
In today’s world, web developers have it all: money, perks, freedom, respect. But is there value in what we do?

Very nice use of the technology here. I've heard a lot of comments about loving the idea of 3D printing but not knowing what one would actually make. This is a neat solution.

This is mostly for Erskin, though it is interesting to anyone that might toy with playing it. It DOES seem inscrutable to me, but I love that it exists and has a fan base.

Love this piece, and the sentiment in general. A great reminder about life and fear, and timely for the New Year and it's resolutions: Don't Stop Running http://www.theawl.com/2012/12/dont-stop-running

Hi Paula - sorry that I've been so difficult to reach. I spoke with Janet recently and she said that you had a nice conversation, and that she got some details about this opportunity. Can you send me an email here or through LinkedIn? I have a full schedule this week, but will try to give you a call when I can.

Thank you,

Aaron

Pulled from Reddit, I thought more people should get a chance to see this. Dirty Signs! As in ASL. As in we all like to learn to curse in another language. A treasure trove of useless information. Possibly NSFW? Oh, I guess it is definitely NSFW. Link is more or less safe (some of the titles of videos are not). I also have no way of knowing if our teacher is giving us correct information or not. Try it out! It's the only way....

Thanks to +Joshua Schwartz for finding a (hopefully) more stable link to that earlier ski video. Ridiculous that they pulled this from youtube. Oh well, some Vimeo love....

Elegant animation. Kind of thematically a mess, though - gives me a Harry Potter/ Game of Thrones mashup vibe.....

An entertaining evisceration of my imaginary nemesis Guy Fieri's new restaurant. Apologies to all the good people who are involved in this travesty.

At nearly 4 million views, most of you have already seen this, but if you haven't it's incredible. The speed is kind of mind boggling, and the slow motion shots show some wobble and shake that give me the chills. A great video.

I wish I knew the source of this video. Absolutely terrifying to see it all come together like this....

The coffee and sandwiches are great, but I recently rediscovered this place for breakfast. While the ubiquitous breakfast sandwich makes an appearance here (and is unusually light and fluffy with better-than average bacon) my new discovery - their "biscuit breakfast" with biscuit, scrambled eggs, and choice of extras - is really fantastic. I like the sausage gravy, and feel like it stands as one of the best breakfast finds around. A little pricey at 6 bucks for that combo, I still heartily recommend it. As for service - there are some efficiency kinks they could work out, but they are always friendly and competent, and unless you are having a really bad day I can't imagine them giving you real reason to complain.

I usually get sandwiches here, and they are creative and delicious - the Pondside is the winner for me, but you can't go wrong with the Guac in the Park or the Green Street either. Get there early on weekends for a proper selection of pastries, as they go fast. Also "early" is strangely late on weekends - 8:00 am, which can feel torturously late if you are up and jonesing for a good pastry and some caffeine.

A breakfast favorite when I'm in the area. Always get the huevos rancheros, a donut, and coffee. Have not seen a film here, so I can't speak to that. Provides a lot of charm to Waitsfield.
