You ever notice most parents only talk about the smiley, happy, shiny parts of parenting. Even when expectant parents ask about raising kids, it's all cutesy-wutesy this and totes adorbs that, covered in rainbow sprinkles. But why? Why do we lie? Why aren't we honest about how things really are some of the time?? Well, consider this my good deed for the day.
We show cute baby pictures on Facebook. Smiling, cooing, perfect. But there are some horrible parenting moments no one wants to talk about.

"Yes, the purkle cat was a silly mispronunciation. But it was also kind of wonderful. I’ve said before I don’t lament my kids growing up, and that’s still true. However, I do regret the times I’ve pushed that progress unnecessarily, and failed to enjoy what’s right in front of my face. I regret prematurely sending the purkle cat into the litterbox of forgotten childhood whimsy. It's a mistake I won't make the second time around."
Kids have their whole lives to be right, but only a few fleeting moments, it seems, to be young.

I came to the stark realization that the overprotective manner in which some people parent is having a direct impact on my ability to raise my kids as I see fit. And that's scary.

So yeah, the trolls and other idiots in comments sections across the Internet finally got to me. So now I'm mocking what I consider to be the worst of them. Join me. And let me know which ones I missed.
The Racist? The Martyr? The Link Spammer? I detail the most obnoxious Internet commenters currently in existence, and mock them. Thoroughly.

My friend Oren Miller died last weekend. So now we're taking up his fight to get Amazon to change their discount program from Amazon Mom to Amazon Family. Because inclusion is good, and the words we use matter.
Thousands of people want Amazon to change it's discount program from Amazon Mom to Amazon Family. Mainly because words matter. #AmazonFamilyUS

"The truly blessed among us realize the last leg of the journey is still part of the adventure. And like the leaves of late autumn, there is still time to be seen. To inspire. To bravely blaze a final path so bright and beautiful it will be imprinted in our minds for time eternal, forever an inspiration to those who saw it. And those who retell it."
Death is still part of life's adventure. Like the leaves of autumn, there's still time to bravely blaze a final path so bright it's forever remembered.

For those who battle depression on a daily basis. Remember, winter seems long but there's always a thaw.
Depression runs rampant this winter. When you haven't seen the ground in months, you start to wonder if it's still there. But it is. It's there.

I expected to be entertained by The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (because Tina Fey writes it and she's a goddess amongst us mere mortals). But I didn't expect to find an honest to goodness role model in a TV show. #StreamTeam
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a new show on Netflix. And it is freaking spectacular.

Two months ago I started volunteering on a weekly basis at my son's elementary school. Best decision ever. Even if I did lose my name in the process.
Volunteering in the classroom gives me the opportunity to be a hero to my son, during this unbelievably brief time hero status is still achievable.
