I made a list. I made a list with animated GIFs. I made a list with animated GIFs and talked about mangled vaginas. Do I win President of the Internet? #dads   #parenting   #childbirth
The delivery room is a weird, frightening, and wonderful place. But there are certain things dads should never say in the delivery room. Here are 11.

I love stories. As a writer, stories are my currency and stock-in-trade. Now, thanks to +HomeAway, my family is rich with them. #WholeVacation
It's amazing how the concept of vacation has changed since becoming a parent. I'm just trying to create "That Time When" moments before it's too late.

Ever seen a snapshot of a moment frozen in time and judged the people involved without fully considering the context? Why do we do that, and can we stop? ‪#ParentsFirst‬ ‪#SisterhoodUnite #ad‬
Pictures can be worth a thousand words, but words said absent knowledge are folly. Parents, stop judging without seeing the bigger picture.

Yes, I realize I sound like a grumpy old man. But I don't care, because instilling manners in our kids is the first step in raising quality human beings who contribute something positive to society. Simply put, we need more parents with good manners raising more kids with better manners.
My main job as a parent is to raise quality human beings who contribute something positive to society. That starts with teaching them good manners.

When we wanted to buy Sam a doll so he could prepare for his new brother or sister, we figured the hard part would be keeping him from ripping its limbs off. I never would've guessed buying it at the toy store would be the most objectionable thing.
While picking out a doll for our son so he can prepare for a new sibling, I noticed something troubling - all of the messaging is aimed at girls.

You know what? Naming a baby sucks. Naming your third baby sucks even more! Here are the six factors I consider during my process. #parenting
Choosing baby names sucks. Trying to agree on a potential boy's name when you already have two boys? That's a special kind of hell.

I'm so pumped that IBM is now offering six weeks paid paternity leave. But getting companies to offer it is the easier part. The real battle is getting men to take all of it and normalizing the practice. Which is why I'm going to very publicly take every single day I've been offered.
I'm going to take my leave as publicly as possible. I'm going to write about it and chronicle it on these pages. I'm going to talk to my male coworkers whose partners are expecting, and urge them to take all six weeks too. As one of a select few who have the privilege of taking this time off, I feel that's my duty. I view it as my responsibility to help make paternity leave normal instead of shameful. To be proud of being a family man instead of ...

Because I'm on my 4th half-marathon, people think I love running. Nope. Sorry. Not this guy. So why do I keep at it? Let's call it fatherly vanity.
Some people are natural runners and LOVE it. Not me. Here's why I hate running, but will continue to do it anyway (make sure you watch the video).

Let's face it, my kids probably aren't getting a monetary inheritance. But I will absolutely pass down my love of certain movies to my boys. Two in particular, in fact, that deal with true love and the importance of adventure. Read my choices and tell me which movies you absolutely must pass down to your children. ‪#streamteam #ad

Remembering my first Father's Day experience, and how a blowout courtesy of discount diapers nearly ruined it. We've been a Pampers family ever since. Read about the 2008 Father's Day from hell, and check out the really cool giveaway at the end that could land you a Babies "R" Us gift card and other awesome prizes.
My first Father's Day taught me a very important lesson -- don't skimp on diapers because a blowout will ruin everything. Now I stick with Pampers.

First they crawl, then they walk, then they run. Soon come the bikes, skateboards, and now a Razor Worldwide electric scooter. I know we raise our kids to be able to leave us one day, but for me -- I hope my boys wait up from time to time so I can catch up. Because I think they're truly something to behold.  #RideRazor
If you raise your kids right, they're supposed to be fine leaving you in the dust. But it's nice to know they'll wait up for you from time to time.

Breastfeeding? Awesome. Formula-feeding? Terrific. Combination of both? More power to you. But no matter what your path is, parents should be able to walk it free from unnecessary judgment. #ad   #ParentsFirst   #SisterhoodUnite
Stop judging & be confident in the choices we make. Whichever path you take - breastfeeding, formula, or a combo of both - you're doing it right.
