Ford may have ditched Microsoft for the next generation of its Sync interface, but that doesn't mean Microsoft no longer has a place in Blue Oval's cars.
Microsoft has shared that they will be limiting the integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Basically dumbing down the amount of control the device will take over the screen. It's sad when a brand touts "Ours is better," when really it is more effective to say we invite all users to plug into our cars and use what they feel comfortable with. I am disappointed in the level of updates the MyFordTouch system has received, and being an early adopter of a 2011 Ford Edge, I am left out in the dark with an old version that will go the way of any computer device and slowly malfunction randomly. I look forward to seeing modders get the new Sync3 and figure out how to plug and play into My Ford Touch vehicles like one user did with his 2013 Ford Taurus.
