Cosi is one fast casual chain that seems to have really missed capitalizing on category potential.  The stock traded in the $40+ range and has had several turnaround attempts.  Now trading at $2 with a tiny market cap.  Meanwhile, other fast casual concepts amassed billions in market capitalization since the Cosi peak.  This chain never really got just how important differentiation is to success.
Six months into a fresh turnaround attempt at sandwich chain Cosi, the changes appear to be resonating with investors.

You may think you're immune to transparent sales pitches like "Do you want fries with that?" But the tactics restaurants use to nudge you into spending a little extra may be subtler than you realize. Here's a look at a few ways companies get you to spend (and eat) more than you intended. ...

Did you catch our interview today with CNBC? McDonald's stock jumped on the news of a new CEO: https://lnkd.in/ejmFi9J. My interview with NPR about Chipotle will be on tomorrow afternoons edition of All Things Considered if you have time to catch it.
Aaron Allen, Global Restaurant Consultant, Aaron Allen & Associates, says that in many ways, McDonald's size has become an issue for the company.

Proud to be quoted in the Fortune article today on McDonald's:
The world's largest restaurant company is losing market share, losing sales, and suffering one heck of a corporate identity crisis. Can McDonald's embattled CEO get the company's mojo back?

Will take a ton of cash for this one.  $300,000 for each remodel and they have completed just 14 of 950 locations. #arbys
With new leadership, new marketing, and a new menu, things are looking up at the once-struggling sandwich chain.

My favorite hotel in the Middle East. The suites ROCK. Please, though, W of Doha, get the F&B team on the same page as the other FOH staff. I can't fathom nicer suites. Awesome property!

This is place is so poorly managed that I truly believe it is in fact dangerous. The staff drink, do shots in front of the public like they guests aren't even there, and curse like drunken sailors (while they may not be sailors, they are definitely drunk, careless, rude and indignant). The experience tonight was so horrific that I'm actually in shock and planning to write government officials, media and others. There was too much to even explain; but given that this was my 4th time there and all times the staff were drunk, doing shots, cursing, generally degrading the public and then attacked and ridiculed me for meekly asking who the owner was - and responding in a way where I actually felt unsafe - I wanted to write now to try to warn others. I eat at 300+ restaurants per year spanning 6 continents and this is the worst run restaurant I have seen in recent memory (probably ever actually). This place really needs oversight and inspection. The people running (or claiming to run) this place are beyond despicable. It's dangerous. Definitely not a family place. You will not want your kids to hear the language at the bar (or witness the behavior and comments of staff), but should you dare that anyway and have a complaint, don't expect a sympathetic response or concern (expect to be attacked and ridiculed). This was one of the most bizarre experiences I've ever had at a restaurant and I can only hope someone intervenes before something really bad happens out there.
