Aging parents are fully aware and concerned of becoming dependent on children. When siblings seem not to work as a team for the seniors, caregiving can be a stressful struggle. Consider holding a family meeting to simplify the situation, work out differences and decide on a care plan that all can agree upon. #ElderlyCare

AGING: HOLDING ON AND LETTING GO

As we get older, we slowly begin to let go of everything. Witnessing the children grow; aging parents eventually realize how their children start to have the lives of their own. There are a lot of times when we just have to let go and hope that things are going to be fine.

Seniors get to experience emotional ups and downs watching the children grow. At a young age of a child, parents can always give a hand or be a company when the child gets hurt. When the child starts to go to school, socialize, get into group of friends and fall in love, parents see the slimming part of their involvement. And getting a job happens and having the family of their own.

When the parents have skillfully applied a step by step detachment at younger years, such reality will happen naturally. The duration of the pain of letting go depends on how long we decide to hold on. Despite the changes that come along with the ticking of the clock, choosing to be the best version of ourselves is worth holding on for a stable sense of self-worth. HOW TO BE BENEFICIAL PARENTS TO YOUR AGING PARENTS

Aging parents come with aging children, thus making the children act as parents this time. We can’t change the fact that they have to go back like little kids depending on their children when they are unable to do certain tasks. When our aging parents tend to forget simple things, children need to stretch their patience more and respect these changes.

We might fail to be there for them as much as they want but acknowledging their presence will at least comfort them. Be there for them as a company once in a while. Lastly, a regular reminder of their medication is necessary for homecare services. Visit www.aafamilyhomecare.com for various services we could offer to assist your healthcare parenting.

First Aid to Treat Bee Stings

Getting bee stings are very unpredictable and sudden. These bee stings hurt and may cause serious issues. We know the first aid procedures to treat the sting:

1. Spot the stinger and remove it using sanitized tweezers. If there is no available object, sanitize your hands and remove it using your nails.

2. Wash the area with soap and water. This will sanitize the wound.

3. Apply a cold compress (or wrap ice in clean cloth) to ease the pain.

4. Apply baking soda and water to also help lessen the pain of the bee sting.

5. Look out for the victim in case there is an allergic reaction to the sting.

6. If there is antihistamine available, make sure that it is ready in case there is an allergic reaction.

7. If the symptoms persist or get worse, arrange for transportation right away and consult a doctor.
