Stability in an otherwise chaotic life

If there was just one reason I could give as to why so many military families choose to educate at home, this would be it.

We want to show that we are not ruining our kids. That they can and will be just as capable of working with others, supporting themselves, overcoming adversities and challenges, and making the most of opportunities that come their way.

The way to do that is not by clinging onto this idea that our kids need to prove something to the world.

Homeschooling and unschooling are hard. Us homeschool moms put up with a lot of fears and pressure from both outside sources and inside the camp. We want to show that we are not ruining our kids. That they can and will be just as capable of working with others, supporting themselves, overcoming adversities and challenges, and making the most of opportunities that come their way. LOL +Megan Zechman losing your head in public is not a good thing! ;) I'm working on that right now - I think we like formulas and simple promises. Homeschooling is hard because we are working with individual children. There is no guarantee or checklist.

From the comments: "Can Christian Films Be Good? Many already are. You just didn’t know they were “Christian” films. And most of the films that self-identify as “Christian” films will not be good because they are made by amateurs and hobbyists, not by professional filmmakers who know what they’re doing."

Interesting article. It does feel like Christian books and movies in general are just not as good as others which is such a shame

"Educating children has been turned it into a huge monstrosity, complete with claws and fangs. . . It is no wonder we homeschoolers pay mounds of money to purchase boxed curricula; we have been conditioned to think that learning is a horribly complicated thing."

Keep it simple!!! #homeschooling   #unschooling

+Aadel Bussinger If you ever want your children to use the computer for either non-fiction (essays or reports) or fiction (creative) writing and want a very inexpensive tool that makes writing much easier, I am very enthusiastic about Scrivener.

You can get a non-consecutive free trial version which allows you to use it on 30 non-consecutive days and you can also get a free version every October which allows it to be used for seven weeks. I purchased a copy about two years ago and have been very satisfied.

Crazy how our idea of some famous structures is totally off. The pyramids zoomed out was shocking to me. And Central Park zoomed out it awesome!
This collection of photographs of majestic landmarks around the world do a great job of just how important framing, perspective and lighting are to a photograph. All of these photo pairs are of the same object, but the changes in perspective can make them seem more or less grand. A change of ...

Awesome - and if you look at about 2:07 that is shot from the bridge we walk almost every day!
Check out this breathtaking time lapse video of Seoul by Kyoung Kyun Park and see the city like you've never seen it before.

Labeled autistic at 2, this mom was told her son would never talk and probably never progress much. Now her son is working in theoretical astrophysics (I hope I got that right) with adults at age 15!!! An amazing young man and a great story of building on the strengths our kids have instead of always focusing on weaknesses.

“It’s really important that when you have a label, you don’t let that label define you. What are your children good at? Let that define them. Create motivations that are self-driven. Let them pursue what they love.”

Incredible story about a mother nurturing her autistic son's genius.

Hat's off to this woman for not listening to the so called experts around her. Every child deserves a mom like this!

Introduction
I currently write for Natural Family Today and These Temporary Tents and I create funky crafts from thrift store finds.

I am a Christian Unschooling mom and I volunteer my time at our local homeschool group and church.  I love to read, crochet, write, and quilt.

My husband, oldest daughter, and I also enjoy playing Magic: The Gathering.  We mostly play Legacy and now Modern.  Jay and I host a weekly podcast on Mtgcast.com  called Fatal Flaw.

We also were recently re-introduced into RPG's and enjoy playing those as a family and in gaming circles as well.
