A team of researchers from the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (SFEA) at AUB participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa showcasing several Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) demonstrations with cultural heritage as their central theme.

In its first such academic collaboration with a university in Europe, AUB signed a cotutelle agreement with Paris Descartes University (L'Université Paris Descartes, UPD) allowing joint doctoral degree programs at both institutions. In this regard, AUB President Fadlo Khuri and UPD President Frederic Dardel signed an agreement and Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of higher administration and deans from both universities.

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), announced the winners of its prestigious Circle of Excellence Awards on June 14, 2017 and AUB struck gold two times. CASE recognized AUB for the top prize in the category of “book design” for the volume Lead, Innovate, Serve and in the category of “special events, year-long” for AUB’s 150th anniversary throughout 2016.

The American University of Beirut conferred four honorary doctorate degrees and 514 graduate diplomas at the University’s 148th commencement ceremony held on Friday, June 2. A total of 16 doctoral, 403 master’s, and 95 medical degrees were awarded to the graduate class of 2017.
