I just have to say that this post has saved me from the confusion that is Google's developer documentation. Thank you very much!

Just to note, as of the latest Android Studio Beta 0.8.14 they still include a "LoginActivity" which uses the PlusClient logic instead of the more appropriate GoogleClient as outlined in this post. I will say that I have successfully made the changes to the factory created LoginActivity by means of the instructions in your post.

A note on "You may have noticed that the onDisconnected callback is now slightly more clearly named as onConnectionSuspended." Just to say for others trying to do the same thing, you'll have to change onDisconnected() to onConnectionSuspended(int cause). I had a problem overriding because I didn't realise that I now need to include the int cause parameter.

After migrating to GoogleClient from PlusClient using that factory PlusBaseActivity I mentioned from Android Studio, I had to explicitly call mGoogleApiClient.disconnect() in the revokeAccessAndDisconnect callback. I think the PlusClient logic was disconnecting right away whereas now the GoogleClient seems to be "connected" even in the callback after asking it to revokeAndDisconnect. I needed the GoogleClient to disconnect so that my UI would update. So this means your revokeAccess() method in PlusBaseActivity could look like this:

    public void revokeAccess() {

        if (mGoogleApiClient.isConnected()) {
            // Clear the default account as in the Sign Out.
            Plus.AccountApi.clearDefaultAccount(mGoogleApiClient);

            // Revoke access to this entire application. This will call back to
            // onAccessRevoked when it is complete, as it needs to reach the Google
            // authentication servers to revoke all tokens.

            Plus.AccountApi
                    .revokeAccessAndDisconnect(mGoogleApiClient)
                    .setResultCallback(new ResultCallback<Status>() {
                       @Override
                        public void onResult(Status status) {
                            Log.d(TAG, "Disconnected");
                            initiateGoogleClientDisconnect();
                            onGoogleClientRevokeAccess();
                            updateConnectButtonState();

                        }
                    });
        }
    }

Generally friendly service with an average speed. The line can get quite long and confusing, and there are a few strange characters who hang around and seem to stake out specific chairs. The nuggets aren't always fresh but the staff is nice about it if it's bad enough to mention.

Particularly unclear queuing system with a generally slow speed of service. Friendly staff and you can tell that they put up with quite a few challenging people from the area who cause trouble. It's rather small and generally pretty crowded because of the area being so close to a main strip of bars and other venues.

We came here as a group of 8. It was a positive experience, food was good and seemed to be of quality ingredients. Our friend had his 25th birthday and they gave ALL of us a free glass of champagne, in addition to a piece of cake for the birthday boy. Our server was competent and nice.

This place has a most amazing menu. It serves an awesome selection of poutine, smoothies and beavertails. There is also a fine variety of frozen yogurt and ice cream. Prices are reasonable. Service was amazing. I'm impressed that the employees can make such a diverse selection of items.

Really great McDonald's in terms of style, with a much more clear queuing system than usual. Clean and friendly, but twice now they've been closed for 10-15 minutes when I arrived. I would still recommend this McDonald's to others in the area, as there is more space and you can watch the kitchen work (which I find interesting).

Absolutely the worst scans I have ever seen. My order was made exactly opposite of my instructions and the price was unjustifiable for the terrible quality.

I went here for brunch. This place is not just a Cora's clone, it has unique meal choices and the fruit is extremely varied. Staff is friendly. There's not a ton of space, but when it's not too cold you can sit outside. Water was delivered in a tiny plastic cup, which was honestly the only thing that was a little off-putting. Portion size was great, and the latitude of the menu allows for extreme specificity in your order.
