HOW TO CHOSE A CHILD'S BED
http://www.4myhome.com.au/blog/
Before you know it, it is time to pack away your little one's cot and get ready for the transition to their first "big" bed. There can be a lot to consider and with so many choices and options these days it is important to consider a few key things to make sure you select a bed that ultimately will grow with your child through their next few stages of life. We all want the best for our children but we also have to make sure we pick a bed that is suitable not only for our budget but also that suits the size and design of their bedroom! With amazing designs available now with bedroom furniture it is important to remember that before you know it your child will be off to school and need an area for study and quiet time. Being able to purchase a bed that also facilitates being turned into a study once your child heads off to school is ideal. This way they can retreat to the peaceful environment of their room to work on school projects and other tasks requiring concentration without interruptions. Children perform better when being able to focus without the sound of mum in the kitchen and dad watching the news!

Bunk beds are often a popular choice for more than one child or space for visitors without compromising the play space available. There are many types of bunk beds. Some are low and suitable for a very young age with heaps of storage under and even including a desk on wheels where later can be put away and free some space when it is not needed. There are also high loft bunks for older children. These can have many usable features under the bed such as a desk, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bookcase or another bed with or without a trundle. Be aware that high bunk beds can be dangerous for your child so make sure they are designed to Australian Safety Standards. These standards particularly ensure that any opening type and size are to specification to prevent entrapment that might cause injury.
Bedroom Suites are a fantastic option if you are looking to complete a room that will grow with your child. Many include trundle beds for additional sleeping spaces for little sleepover guests, bedside tables, drawers and desks. You might consider a bedroom suite that offers a wardrobe in the package if you don't have built -ins in the bedroom.

When selecting a size of bed, we recommend if you have the space available to select a king single size to get the best use out of your investment. Be aware when purchasing online, in particular from companies selling cheap imports that they will fit a mattress manufactured to Australian standards. When purchasing your bedroom furniture it is common for the salesperson to offer a free mattress, don't get too excited!! Often these mattresses are of a low quality and do not offer the support recommended for growing little bodies. It is best to do your research and ask retailers who specialise in mattresses.
It is important to be aware of warranty conditions when purchasing a mattress. If you purchase a bed for example that has a slat base, and these slats are spaced more than 75cm apart this might compromise the life of your mattress. Large gaps like these in some cases can affect spring mattresses and make your warranty void. To enhance the life of your mattress, it is recommended mattresses are turned over every 6 months. Having a supportive mattress will ensure a good nights rest for your body to relax, repair and rejuvenate. A good night's sleep is an important component in living a healthy life.
Enjoy your shopping!
